I never posted on NOM but sounds familiar. I don't know if this forum is faster or slower paced than tellestial but I personally find it the most interesting.

Ceeboo wrote:I know exactly nothing about Stormfront - So I am unable to offer any opinions on it.Is it fair to characterize folks who post that same content as bigoted? What should the guidelines be that split us from righteous indignation at the term, to active dismantling of bigotry?
How about this, (no matter what radio station someone may or may not listen to on any given day - or what paper they may or may not read - or what vote they may or may not have casted - or what news channel they may or may not watch) why don't we consider characterizing the bigotry of someone (or lack there of) by what the individual person says. Why aren't we able to see bigotry without wearing political glasses? Why does it seem like we selectively see bigotry and intolerance?
Ceeboo, I honestly don't think that you would find a need to even ponder this question if you were to familiarize yourself with Stormfront.
Ceeboo wrote:I posted some examples of some of the most obvious vile, racist, bigoted and intolerant comments and the replies where allattempts to excuse and or deflect from the obvious.
OK, let's look at that.
1. You started out with a piece by Prager that railed about 'leftist intolerance' because some folks (apparently only Leftists) saw a problem with a Starbucks manager calling the cops on a black man for asking for a key to the bathroom while waiting for a business partner to arrive.
2. You moved on to a strange situation in Philadelphia where two controversial folks from Turning Point USA were accosted by a handful of 'antifa' (no word as to how these leftists knew where they were or if they identified themselves as antifa anyway) who screamed at them with a bullhorn that they happened to have, and threw water on them.
3. Then you gave us the example of Sarah Jeong, who tweet-vented some anti-white rage several years ago when she was relatively unknown, after receiving the same via her Twitter account.
This has been your accounting of what is "the most obvious vile, racist, bigoted and intolerant comments" (and presumably behavior) being displayed by the left. And this has you fuming, and believing that the vast majority of hatred and vitriol is coming from 'the Left' today.
But, you've never heard of Stormfront. And you don't seem to want to talk about factors or events that preceded these incidents that show as much, if not more vitriol and hatred, emanating from 'the Right'. You don't want to look at the worst examples of 'Twitter' behavior pervading the bandwidth today from our own President, while pretending that a virtually unknown Asian journalism student's influence is so much more significant. You don't want to know about the full story or chain of events in any situation like this.
You do want to be angry that, say, Charlie Kirk and Candace Owen got water thrown in their face, and pronounce that this event is unmatched by behavior from the opposite side of the political divide.
I remember that just last year, a fine young alt-right gentleman threw his Dodge Challenger into the face of a dozen folks that he thought he politically disagreed with, and killed one of them. Not that this seems to matter to folks on the right; this is obviously not a component within a dysfuntional dialog between left and right because it was done by someone on the right and thus cannot be mentioned. We're only allowed to rant on about 'antifa' without ever asking why the hell is antifa showing up anywhere? What could possibly be the reason why these folks are suddenly in the news? ; )
And remember this guy (link below)? We see this happen often enough. A bullet in the face is pretty tough to deal with, too.

Ceeboo wrote:Unfortunately, I don't know anything about NPR either, so I can't comment on that program. ... I will check out NPR some day.
I strongly suggest it. But, fair warning - you may find it to be terribly boring, as there is never any discussion about bad 'others' coming to take your stuff and ruin your life. It's just news and occasional humor. Those Leftists just don't know how to play to the crowd.
Now, regarding Jeong:
Ceeboo wrote:You see her comments as "stooping to the same level of the folks who were harassing her and who supposedly instigated her to respond in this way." (Stooping to the same level, instigated her to respond that way)
I see her comments as it as disgusting, vile, racist, bigoted and intolerant. Period.
I can't even imagine a scenario where comments (any comments at all) would cause me to write the kind of disgusting, hate filled, racist, vile and intolerant comments that she wrote.
Why do so many people go to such lengths to excuse - or deflect from - or defend obvious bigotry? If we can't all agree on an example of bigotry and intolerance that is as obvious and crystal clear as this example is/was, then I am sincerely afraid that we might to be able to agree on literally anything.
If you believe that I'm excusing her behavior, then you are not comprehending my response.
Ceeboo wrote:Maybe keeping her on staff is part of bridging the divide, if she can speak out publicly about her past behavior and its lack of sensibility.
LOL (Sorry, not laughing at you - that was really my reaction)
You must have sensed my smirk when I typed that. ; )
Ceeboo wrote:... I do find it a little bit amusing that you ask me about "these violent American militant groups that are popping up all over this country", without even mentioning the factor that just might be responsible for them 'popping up'.
I'm glad you found it a little amusing. I don't.
Once again, you focus entirely on the suggested reasons they are popping up and you don't place any accountability to the people in these groups who are violently screaming at American citizens trying to eat lunch (In America) - Screaming things at them like "Racist" Fascist" "Get out of this country". They are causing bridges to be closed, they are stopping traffic. They are attacking/bullying/harassing American citizens, on American streets for wearing a Trump hat. They are attacking mothers in parking lots, because they have a Republican bumper sticker. But, as you suggest, they have had their raging flames of anger stoked by other people so they need not adhere to the civilized behavior that is expected by most of American citizens.
Ceeboo, here's where your thought process exposes an issue that conflicts with common-sense reality, to a degree.
First, I'm not telling you that any of this behavior is good. Nor do I condone it. If you need to read that line a few times to understand what I'm saying, then do so, as you keep claiming that understanding or examining the context of behavior is an attempt to condone or excuse it. It isn't. Got that?
Second, you can pretend that historical trend, context and environment mean nothing to your conclusion, but you would not be correct, nor does the rest of the world operate in that sort of limited fashion. If you think that I'm wrong about this, then head on down to your local courtroom and watch a few cases. Or just watch something other than partisan political YouTube vids and Fox and Friends, both platforms which pretend that antifa groups just came out of nowhere and randomly pop up on selected weekends to throw junk at random passersby... without giving much mention to the fact that one reason why that's happening is that there's a crapload of white nationalists, neo-nazis or KKK nutcases somehow coincidentally gathered in the same area and just across the street! Surely, there can't be a connection, can there?
And while right-wing media pretends that there is no connection and that this random gathering and mobbishness for no reason is all just the normal behavior of 'leftists', we can talk about their accountability, while pretending that those white nationalists, neo-nazis or KKK nutcases don't need to meet the same criteria of accountability, let alone be mentioned as if they actually existed. Right? Why bother messing up the messaging from Fox, or folks like Hannity, or Rush, with crazy concepts like 'integrity', or 'honesty', right?
(Oops. I mentioned white nationalists, neo-nazis or KKK nutcases. Sorry. Did I say that? What do they have to do with any of this?)
Ceeboo, there is no better way to wall off any possibility of bridging any political divide if you aren't willing to examine the uncomfortable history, faulty premises and bad behavior of many occupying the same side of your own political preferences. If you do ever want to honestly explore the topic you keep posting about, then you'll need to step outside of your comfort zone and do a little looking around outside of right-wing media.
I wish that I could tell you that you'd encounter facts that support your conclusion, but I can't say that, because I'd be lying.

Anyhow, those crazy antifa folks showed up in Portland last week, for no reason at all. Strangely, a brawl erupted, for no reason at all. With no-one, apparently. It was all antifa's fault, even though it wasn't, exactly. But, antifa, antifa, antifa. Here's some footage and a news report, below.

Oh, and my vote is to lose Prager, and keep listening to the C&W. But I'm sure you figured that I'd say that. : )
Good luck.

Canpakes,
You didn't answer a question of mine and I'm curious to learn your answer.
Given the large number of posts you write, especially posts where you are replying to right-leaning board members, why haven't you ever posted a comment to any (of the "few" in your words) of the bigoted or intolerant posts from a left-leaning board member? If you have done this, please accept my apology and point me to it/them.
Other then that...... I give you the last word as well.

I think you’re asking if I’ve ever responded to a board participant and stated that I thought that their response was bigoted. I think that the word can be used pretty broadly so I’m not sure I’d typically use it in discussion unless it were itself was the subject of the discussion, because otherwise it’s a fairly useless term and typically tossed around as a way to beat up on another opinion without really examining an issue.
You might want to check out previous threads discussing antifa or racism though, as I’ve been open with views on both that aren’t exclusive to any political leaning.

You are obviously correct, but unfortunately, we knew this would fall on deaf ears.

Actually, I think what he's asking is if you define bigotry in the same erroneous way he does, because if you don't, you're just a part of the "leftist" problem in this country.
It's getting a tad nauseating listening to "conservatives" clutching their pearls and wondering why on earth people won't let them believe whatever BS they want, especially when their BS helps shape public policy.

This behavior reminds me a bit of a fellow complaining about being kicked in the shin by another fellow that he was trying to string up in a tree.
Pointing out the obvious problem here isn’t condoning shin-kicking. : )

That's great yarn spinning Mark Twain, but it is not applicable to the situation. Just throwing around colorful metaphors and analogies does not mean you have interpreted remembered the situation correctly.
