It's become an identity marker for many people. More guns = more American/Christian/conservative.
And nothing epitomizes this more than this recent Christmas Card by a Nevada GOP lawmaker. The same idiot who said cancer could be washed out with baking soda.
Because nothing says "I'm celebrating Jesus" like packing a bunch of lethal weapons.
Mak, a sexist? That's a strange definition of sexism.
You folks truly are just aching to be offended by whatever, huh?
He supported his claim with evidence, so deal with the evidence instead of trying to deflect with the pretense of being offended by what he said. If you're a woman who loves guns, fine. There is nothing wrong with pointing out how the fanatical gun culture has its roots in male masculinity.

Civilians are no different from needing standard capacity or high capacity. All a bad guy has to do is hide behind a corner, and keep trying to kill you, and it's a gun fight, where all the rounds you can get is life or death.
The odds any given person will accidentally or intentionally shoot themselves with their gun far exceed the odds that the above situation will happen. A person who is assaulted in public is more than 4x as likely to be killed if they are carrying a gun than if they are not. Using a gun in self-defense is one of the least likely things that will ever happen to a gun-owner. It is far more likely you yourself will be killed with a gun, either yours or someone else's. Those are just the facts. You can amp yourself up and crow as much as you want about how you're different and better and more manly, but the numbers simply don't support that.

Who are 'you folks'? You must have missed the first post describing what was sexist in mak's original posts.
