I’m still not quite sure what you’re trying to say in your OP and first response to SS, RI. <- In context to the recent kefuffle. Perhaps a reset is in order? Help an asshole out here.

Sure. As one asshole to another, when it comes to sexist speech, what’s your goal?

Doc asked me to explain the first two posts of the thread. They are are pretty long, so I started by asking him a question as a jumping off point.

That, I assume. I'll watch for another jumping off point that is more suitable for me.

Never mind, I'll make my own jumping off point.

This first. Analytics apparently used his sexist remark as a rhetorical device. That said, it can still be used to forward discussion. I've played catch up here and I still don't see that the discussion is being forwarded but rather in a stuck position.

In my view, it would be a good idea to first define sexism and feminism. I don't see where that has happened here and I see very little inquiry as to the thinking of contributors. Lots of questions but I don't see real probing.

So...

Sexism: Assumes male superiority.

Feminism: Assumes gender equality.

Stereotypical sexist remark: Your thinking seems cloudy today. Are you on your period or something?

Q: What statement can be made by a female to a male that carries the same inequitable punch that is intended to demean?

Make a list.

What functions do these serve?

The closest parallel I could think of was “You’re thinking with your dick.” It’s an insult that uses a part of the body, but it doesn’t pack the same inequitable punch. It doesn’t reinforce a stereotype that has kept men out of positions of power.

Bingo bango. It preserves male dominance. Which I think (look up there) is a function of sexism.

Hey your thinking seems really cloudy today. Whatsamatter? Not getting any?

Even that, objectifies women and places them in a submissive role.
