It is indeed cool to see Dana Rohrabacher lose his Congressional seat. Link

The web site has Rick Scott over Senator Nelson by 12,562 votes. Since Sinema is very likely going to win, I won't mind if Scott holds on to win.

With a population of nearly 2M people, that adds up to a LOT of people who *snap* didn't care about the Senatorial race.

Yeah, I'll be curious to see what the recount shows.

There was a little piece on the radio yesterday that speculated this was due to the design of the ballots, and how in that particular county, because of the races, the Senate box was in the bottom left. Because of where it was placed, they think some people probably didn't even notice it.

Or so the theory goes. Seems plausible.

I fully agree! Rohrabacher is probably one of the most willfully ignorant and anti-science members of congress in the history of this nation. He was not significantly smarter or better versed in science than a typical flat-earther. In fact, it would not greatly surprise me to find out that he was actually a closet flat earth believer.

First, Trump couldn’t be bothered to step outside into a drizzle to show respect to Americans who fought and died for our country over 100 years ago, and now he doesn’t care if our active duty personnel get to have their vote counted if he can avoid it to protect a Republican candidate somewhere ...

Two days after skipping a visit to an American military cemetery near Paris because it was raining, President Donald Trump called for effectively disenfranchising overseas military members voting in Florida, raising further questions about the draft-evading president’s commitment to the armed services.

“The Florida Election should be called in favor of Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis in that large numbers of new ballots showed up out of nowhere, and many ballots are missing or forged,” Trump tweeted early on Monday, the observed Veterans Day holiday for the federal government. “An honest vote count is no longer possible-ballots massively infected. Must go with Election Night!” ...

But skipping those recounts would not only violate state law, it would ignore the ballots of tens of thousands of Florida-based troops deployed overseas. Those ballots are supposed to be counted if they arrive by this coming Friday.

“It’s a nice commentary from the commander-in-chief on Veterans Day,” said Will Fischer, who served in Iraq as a Marine and is now with the VoteVets group.

Those votes should be counted as long as they arrive before the next session.

Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema officially won the Senate race in Arizona here. I don't think that Water Dog is that happy about Sinema winning. But I am happy that Sinema won since I voted for her.

Democrat Kyrsten Sinema Wins Arizona Senate Race, Flipping Second GOP Seat

Democrat Kyrsten Sinema has defeated Republican Martha McSally to win the Arizona Senate race, the Associated Press projected Monday evening.

With Sinema's victory to flip the open seat of retiring GOP Sen. Jeff Flake, she becomes the first Democrat Arizona has elected to the Senate since 1988. She will not only be the state's first female senator but will also be the first openly bisexual senator in U.S. history.

Shortly after the race was called in her favor, Sinema wrote on Twitter that she will "be an independent voice for all Arizonans."

It looks like that Democrat Katie Hobbs is also going to win by becoming Arizona's next Secretary of State here. Arizona is no longer a red state.

The latest election news from Florida.

Florida Senate race goes to manual recount; DeSantis appears to win governorship

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida’s protracted Senate election proceeded Thursday to a manual recount, the next phase in an increasingly bitter and litigious fight, while Republicans declared victory anew in the race for governor.

The state’s machine recount ended at 3 p.m. on Thursday with Republican Gov. Rick Scott leading incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson by less than one-quarter of one percentage point, within the margin that legally triggers a manual recount. Scott led Nelson by more than 56,000 votes on election night Nov. 6, but that lead had fallen to 12,603 on Thursday afternoon, when the state officially declared a manual recount would occur.

County election officials across the state now have until Sunday to review overvotes and undervotes, ballots that a machine marked as having too many or too few selections in the race. Officials will seek to interpret the intent of the voters based on the markings they left on the ballots, a scenario that harkens back to Florida’s 2000 presidential recount and notorious hanging chads.

The gubernatorial contest between Democrat Andrew Gillum and Republican Ron DeSantis won’t proceed to a manual recount, as the Thursday results showed DeSantis holding a secure lead of nearly 34,000 votes. DeSantis’s lead had held steady throughout the past week.

I heard earlier that New Jersey flipped another seat to the Democrats today with the first Korean-American congressman.

So what's that now, 35 seats added in this blue wave?

You never shy away from hyperbole, but Trump's soon to be non obstructed Senate appointments of many many federal judges may have you splashed by a trickle not a wave.

Good luck prying it out of Pelosi's wrinkled white fingers.
