One question is how many ties does a man need? (or woman if you like Diane Keaton)

Stak and Simon are actually the same person. The first rule of Mormon club is you do not talk about Mormon club.

I mostly wear collard shirts under sweaters, vests and other long sleeve shirts, so I keep my tie between the two layers, so all you see is my handsome double Windsor and a few inches of the tie. I never wear my tie flappin in the wind, nor do I favor the drab suits worn by your typical Mormon male.

The color and pattern of your tie will depend on what you are wearing. If I'm wearing a light shirt, I'll wear something dark over it as a contrast. For example, White shirt and a black sweater (solid), I'd wear a a patterned tie, that had similar dark and light colors. Here is an example of myself (face blotted out to protect my sacred identity) entertaining guests at a soiree in my spacious apartment:

Pro Tip: Shoes, belt and watch wristband must match. Black or Brown, don't get crazy. Don't wear white athletic socks with dress shoes, and for the love of all that is holy, learn to shine your own shoes.

EDIT: Picture was taken before I learned how to tie a Double Windsor.

You always need some extra ones. You know, for those spontaneous times when your significant other wants to be tied up and/or blindfolded. That's hell on ties.

No doubt for the sake of accurate anatomical symbolism.

Maybe someday you'll find something smaller then your tie. Keep at it.

It matches the drapes.

I personally don't see what a lot of the fascination is about these two matching. If they don't match, so what? More importantly, who is actually looking to make sure they match?
