Boeing, a company that I know a lot about, has had it's best year for plane sales ever. It's one of America's largest employers and doing VERY well financially. It just announced another series of layoffs for January (even though they are working huge overtime hours to meet commitments in airplanes). Many of the non-production jobs have been contracted overseas. Many of the production jobs have been sub-contracted to smaller companies both here and overseas.
That's the reality of business in the U.S. right now. Romney was just cashing in on that.
Talk to the unions about this. Take it to the clear and present causes (also, the strong anti-business tax and regulatory climate of the U.S. government).
It's the unions' fault that overseas labor is so much cheaper? You think Americans will work for $2 a day, do you?

Horse biscuits, Droopy. It's not about unions. Most of the people being layed off are non-union workers. The tax and regulatory climate of the U.S. is much easier on corporations than that of the E.U. (Boeing's major competitor). Part of it is the cheap labor to be found overseas. Without some sort of regulation in this area, corporations are forced to compete with others that are willing to export work. The lowest common denominator.
I don't know what you do for a living, Droopy, but without unions, most of us (I'm self employed) would be working for starvation wages. There would be no middle class in this country. Middle ages.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Don't forget about child labor and all working conditions being hazardous.

How true. I understand that there are grave yards full of children in the Eastern U.S. that died working in factories.
