Feb. 29, 2020 — U.S. and Taliban sign an agreement that sets the terms for a U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan by May 1, 2021
You had 15 months.

Get packed.

March 25 — During a press conference at the White House, Biden says “it’s going to be hard to meet the May 1 deadline. Just in terms of tactical reasons, it’s hard to get those troops out.”

You still had 6 weeks by this point. Time to GTFO.

April 14 — Saying it is “time to end the forever war,” Biden announces that all troops will be removed from Afghanistan by Sept. 11.

Ok. Look! An actual end date.

it was an agreement made by the United States government, and that means something,” Biden says, adding that final troop withdrawal would begin on May 1.

K. Time to pull them 2500 troops home. If you aren't on a plane by now, WTF not?

April 18 — In a released statement, Trump criticizes Biden’s Sept. 11 withdrawal deadline saying, “we can and should get out earlier.” He concludes, “Getting out of Afghanistan is a wonderful and positive thing to do. I planned to withdraw on May 1st, and we should keep as close to that schedule as possible.”

Trump says what.

July 8 — Saying “speed is safety,” Biden moves up the timeline for full troop withdrawal to Aug. 31.

That gives you 7 more weeks!! Time to really really bail, now!

Aug. 15 — Taliban fighters enter the Afghanistan capital Kabul;Imagine that. Perhaps you should have been out of the country, before a bum rush of panicked people made the news.

"The Plan" was agreed in Feb of 2020. Anyone still there now is an idiot.

Pretty darn impressive when you look at that time line. Are you sure it's accurate? Did anyone fact check it on Reddit?

Thanks for the links, Jersey Girl. I agree with Honor that partisanship in this country is bananas, and especially not helpful when it seems both political parties wanted out of Afghanistan. I’ll give Trump his due on this one; he deserves a thumbs up on this particular issue, despite the lying about Biden’s actions.

What a lot of people aren’t understanding is that for America to have legitimacy on a planetary scale, current presidential administrations do well to uphold agreements made by prior ones. Biden simply understood the logistics on the ground would require more time. Also, remember the Trump admin didn’t do a proper handoff, which I’m sure included details surrounding the Afghanistan deals struck by Trump’s team.

So. All the moaning about our withdrawal is nonsense partinship.

I'm sorry I didn't put those all in the same post. I just got going and took off. I never take anything at face value.

Anyway, there's a lot of people not understanding and those who really do understand and aren't being self honest in the name of partisanship. Ask me how I know. ;)

Seriously, I've got Fox News in my ear for far too long periods of time during the day. It's probably yelling out of the television right this very second but I am not near by. The stuff that I hear on that channel could almost be a parody of some kind if the topic wasn't so serious.

He also got more than 100,000 Afghans out of the country, much to the chagrin of Republicans who think they shouldn't be granted amnesty for helping us fight terrorism.
I hope this does not become another Mariel boatlift.
