Call me old fashioned, but if you aren't old enough to drive a car and vote you are probably not ready to start having children.

I agree the underage marriage thing is wrong, but in most states you can legally drive a car at 16. Many parents teach their children to drive as young as 14 or 15, I know many who started driving at 15. I don't think the car driving comparison is a good one.

That being said it is not wise to have children at 18, and I think 18 year olds shouldn't be permitted to drive, many 18 year olds drive dangerously.

So what happens to a 16 year old boy who sleeps with his teacher and she has a kid? Now he is a dad because an adult decided to do that to him and at 18 he's hit with child support because beautiful 20 year old teacher has to be a waitress since her degree is useless. But it's all okay because he wanted to get his rocks off with his beautiful sexy teacher and can brag about that for the rest of his life. Good trade off for the boy.

So do some 40 year olds, and a lot of 80 year olds. I was driving legally at 14. 14-16 is a good age to start to learn how to drive. As we grow up we have to transition into adult activities and responsibilities like driving. They shouldn't all start at 18 or 21, and some activities like sex the body is ready and really willing usually at an age well under 18.

Where I live there is a graduated licensing program, there are a lot more restrictions than when I got my license. My twins couldn't even get in a car with one of their friends because the friend could not have more than one person in the car who was not a family member. Any citation an your license is gone till you are 18 and an alcohol related one no license till 21.

When I finished reading this thread, I had to go back and reread the OP to be sure I hadn't somehow ended up in a completely different thread on accident.

The OP raised an interesting and concerning topic initially regarding the marriage loophole that illogically makes otherwise criminal statutory rape legal because...? The woman became the man's property so it's ok? Marrying a girl (literally) makes having sex with her ok in the sight of God, so everyone else should mind their own business? I was honestly shocked to realize the laws were still this antiquated, so wide-spread among the states, and the practice so prolific.

As to DT being a creeper, I don't know that any amount of discussion can sort out the hows and wherefores of it. The dude is a creeper. He has a broken relationship to sex. He has the personal responsibility to recognize this and do something about it. Probably involving a professional.
