Guys, I've said it before, the key to understanding the idiocy that is Sid the Subfaps is to realize that he is both an idiot AND enjoys being humiliated. He devotes a portion of most days to degrading himself here and the only explanation for how he could possibly always be wrong about just about everything is that he gets off on making a fool of himself. Its like its gone from a fetish to an all encompassing addiction at this point.

don't get me wrong, he isn't all that bright to begin with but even the most dimwitted in society have issues that they can discuss "intelligently"...Subfaps doesn't even seem to be capable of putting together a coherent thought about any subject - I do love when he tries to post anything related to numbers as its obvious his "education" never included any kind of basic math or data extrapolation but that's just me. I mean, you would think that someone who claims to be an architect would have something to add when the subject involves any form of creativity but, no, he has the posting prowess of an anthropomorphic dirt clod. Putin was expressing a broadly fashionable argument that he has promoted for years, and that has recently taken hold among reactionaries in several Western countries, including the United States. Most graduates of an elite college who took any humanities courses would have some rough familiarity with their work, which is a cornerstone of what’s called a “liberal education.” The “West,” of course, refers to Europe and the United States, where liberal ideas first took hold.

Speaking of Western Liberal Democracy, I recently came upon a great comparison of two people who feared a dystopian end for Western Democracies: George Orwell (1984) and Aldous Huxley (Brave New World).

What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egotism.

Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumble puppy.

As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists, who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny, “failed to take into account man’s almost infinite appetite for distractions.”

In 1984, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we fear will ruin us. Huxley feared that our desire will ruin us.”
