Re: Math is hard for at least three liberals
Richard himself is quite ignorant. I'm not sure about "stupid," but he is so thoroughly broken by personal biases that he routinely believes in extremely stupid things. Extreme right AM radio stuff. It's legitimately sad. So, he's in no position to condescend anyone in that way even before you start considering the fact that his preferred media sources flub basic stuff so routinely that it is essential to their identity.
Then, Richard decides to throw out his accomplishments as a means of shouting down criticism of his hypocrisy. Because those accomplishments aren't exactly the most impressive thing ever - there are far more accomplished people who also say quite dumb things - it comes across as pathetic. How dare you challenge someone who, uh, once gave a talk aired on C-Span? Pretty easily, as it turns out. Heck, some of the very people he started this thread to poke fun of are far more accomplished than him. Then, on top of all that, when you realize he's coat tailing the family he was fortunate to be born into, it comes across as *really* pathetic.

Yeah, Richard, we know.

In fairness to our esteemed Conservative contributor, CNN is, in fact, a hot mustard bowell movement and they really, really need to get their crap together:

That link above shows how CNN misreported Elon Musk's donation of ventilators to a hospital in California. I'm fairly certain a quick Google search would result in hundreds of such dishonest reports such as showing footage from one disaster and airing it as footage for another. It's really ballsy and stupid to do that in this era of fact checking.

Re: Math is hard for at least three liberals
The Musk ventilator story was that instead of sending ventilators, he sent some discounted bipap machines and no ventilators arrived as promised. That was quite thoroughly sourced and wasn't a CNN exclusive. Did he also send ventilators or sent ventilators after that? I can't find any support of that besides Musk's own claims and his screencapped DM's thanking him for ventilators that doesn't make it clear if they ever received them and a screencapped email that is so thoroughly separated from context that it's hard to tell if it is evidence of what it is claiming to be.
The governor of California as recently as *today* is claiming that there was no such shipment of ventilators as promised by Musk:

There are lots and lots of reasons to criticize CNN's reporting both in general media culture and in specific story mistakes. You'll get no argument from me there. But this doesn't seem like a good example. The California government is a responsible source to cite to support the underlying story claim.

Telsa is refusing comment on the stories from today regarding California officials claiming that no ventilators arrived. It seems like that'd be a relatively easy thing to refute, so responding to it with no comment doesn't sound the best.
Musk claimed to have secured a shipment of a 1000+ ventilators from China. He received positive press for this where the tone of the coverage acted as though they were already going out the door. Instead of issuing them directly to the state, the plan was for Musk's people to ship them directly to hospitals in need. The government of California is continuing to claim that no such shipments arrived to hospitals. It's perfectly newsworthy to report those facts. If solid evidence turns out up that they were shipped to hospitals, then that should be treated as a news development. A sketchy tweet that carblogs are running with is not exactly a refutation of the story.

He asked Gavin Newsome to "fix this misunderstanding" and Gavin Newsome responded by saying Musk's claims were false. That doesn't prove CNN sucks. It proves that Musk disputes the story with some very thin evidence. Your own link tries to defend sending bipap machines as ventilators, which kinda confirms the initial stories of Musk sending bipaps instead of ventilators.
This does remind that Musk has been quite hostile to existence of media critical of him. And since he's done a lot of sketchy stuff, he's gotten a fair amount of critical media. It's little jarring when you hear billionaires talk about how media sources they don't like shouldn't exist.

Are you suggesting the LACDoHS and Mammoth Hospital are lying? Here’s some Musk information on whatever:

Re: Math is hard for at least three liberals
Given that his commentary involves defending calling cpaps "ventilators" - as if the national ventilator shortage crisis was about not having enough cpap machines to go around - very strongly suggests that he's just trying to take credit for sending some bipap/cpap machines he bought and then presented as a ventilator rescue. It wouldn't be surprising if his screencaps are in reference to that. But if that's the case, that *confirms* the story the press, including CNN, was running with. That's the negative Musk story. That instead of sending ventilators - the sophisticated equipment hospitals are in dire need of - he bait and switched them with lower-level tech and never sent ventilators probably because he was too incompetent or unconcerned about the difference.
If he did send ventilators, it'd be great to hear about it, but CNN ain't screwing up by reporting that California sources, including the government of California, are claiming he didn't do that.

Re: Math is hard for at least three liberals
Wait. Are you suggesting all COVID-19 patients requiring ventilators need to be intubated? And are you claiming hospitals aren’t receiving ventilators? I’m not sure why you’re doubling down on being wrong, but you do you. To be honest, I don’t care to defend a billionaire’s honor, nor do I feel the need to defend CNN’s credibility, I was just trying to reach across the aisle and give RichardMDBorn a handsie.
