Yup! Anti-maskers are on about the same intellectual and moral plane as anti-vaccers and flat earthers.
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Destin, Floridaajax18 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 1:14 amThat must be a rural area. It's certainly not that way in most big cities.msnobody wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 3:47 pmPractically no one is wearing a mask in Florida. No social distancing, no nothing. From my observations, it is life as usual. Social nearness seems to be the norm. One news article says one death every 8 minutes in the state of Florida from COVID-19.
A sign at a restaurant:
Due to COVID-19
Customers are NOT required to wear masks
Front of house employees are REQUIRED to wear masks
Back of house employees are NOT REQUIRED to wear masks
They have a hand washing station for customers, asking customers to wash their hands.
Learned from management that no one who works there is required to wear a mask.

Good for you. Smart man. Some Schmo wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 2:39 pmI don't walk outside without my SF 49ers mask looped around my wrist. I don't put it on outside unless I'm walking past a store front or some other place I might encounter another human. I have it just going for walks on the off chance I impulsively decide to enter some place of business. I will not enter any building except my home without wearing a mask.
The assholes who won't wear masks whining about freedom are the same assholes making everyone else wear them longer. They're the same ones whining about the economy while doing everything they can to re-tard the economy's recovery.
Stupid. Assholes.
ETA: Shades, "re-tard" is a valid, non-offensive verb. For fu-ck's sake.
I have adult children who are currently at home, due to the pandemic. I realized that my last words to them, every single time they leave the house, even for a walk, are
“Do you have a mask? And your hand sanitizer? Be safe!!!!”
I have managed, barely, to restrain myself from pressing an extra mask in their hands as they go, followed by dramatically standing at the window whispering “Via con Dios” as they drive or walk off. Barely.
What a strange world.
Seriously, though, everyone around here within distance of another human wears masks, always. I frequently see people drive past, alone in a car, wearing their mask. It has definitely become a way of life here, for which I am extremely grateful.

Re: Face Masks or Not?
The funniest thing I read lately was a Utah parody calling for anti-maskers to participate in “no pants day.” The banner had tighty whities stretched over something like a sling shot frame, with a slogan along the lines of
“No government has the right to make us wear pants!”
(Maybe flying one piece garments was too much of a freak flag to let loose in the morridor.)
Exactly as serious as an anti-mask flash mob, right?

I'm in South Tahoe today and was walking around to do some errands and was the, I kind you not, the only White guy wearing a mask. Virtually all the Asians wore masks. Around half the Latinos, Chicanos, and Hispanics (I'm never sure what designator applies to Latin-language-based folks) were masks. Smh.

Right! Insisting on the right to refuse to wear a facemask during this pandemic crisis, given what we know about how wearing reduces the risk of spreading the disease, makes even less sense, if anything, than insisting on the right to refuse to wear pants.Lemmie wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 7:42 pmThe funniest thing I read lately was a Utah parody calling for anti-maskers to participate in “no pants day.” The banner had tighty whities stretched over something like a sling shot frame, with a slogan along the lines of

Re: Face Masks or Not?
San Francisco has a large Asian population of Chinese, Korean and Japanese. During the flu season, you probably see more masks in San Francisco than most places. Chinese and Japanese, especially, are very germ-conscious during the flu season.
Add to that our predilection towards liberal politics, and you have a population that is receptive to wearing masks. I would guesstimate 85-90% of the people on the street are wearing masks. We are not experiencing the leap in infections that are occurring in other parts of the state. As of this morning, we have 56 deaths. ICU bed population has remained flat and low.

Yes, I noticed that in my daily reviews of California's corona pandemic statistics.MeDotOrg wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 7:15 pmSan Francisco has a large Asian population of Chinese, Korean and Japanese. Re: Lemmie's remarks about pants vs masks above, San Francisco is (or was) quite liberal about that too. If I am not mistaken, until fairly recently, it was legal in San Francisco to refuse to wear anything at all in public, let alone pants and masks.

The government has no right to make paratroopers wear parachutes. I keep saying... these brave freedom fighters should demonstrate their science skepticism on gravity.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.
