Why is a CDL license a state issue and not federal.
California implemented the new federal CDL requirements in 2022. That said, I'm not sure why truck drivers that do interstate commerce hauls don't have a more standardized federal licensing requirement. I imagine it comes down to rascally states' rights.

From looking back, it seems that several states changed quite a few things with CDL during the supply chain madness in an attempt to get more commercial drivers. If I had a massive checkbook, and magic wand, I'd personally expand our rail system. Safer, more efficient, and exponentially less expensive. But, this is America where we like doing things the 'Merica way.
Speaking English can't be a CDL requirement in California because it violates DEI and is considered by liberals to be an ethnocentric and xenophobic requirement.
Sometimes I wonder if you simply don't know what DEI is, or if it's just a default snarl word that can be used as a placeholder for anything you don't like. Kind of like "woke," or "critical race theory." That said, Section 13 of the Commercial Driver Handbook for California's DMV (available through their website) literally states that failure to comprehend English, or communicate in English during the skills test ("vehicle inspection, basic control skills, and road test") results in a failure. CFR, Title 49, sections 391.11(b)(2) and 383.133(c)(5) mandate that the entire road test "must be conducted int he English language."

This is one of those times where right-ring propaganda has lied to you. At some point, I would think you'd become somewhat leery of believing it wholesale without verifying.
But why do we have to honor that license in Florida?
Likely to keep Florida's economy from collapsing. We're all intricately reliant on each other, which is one of our great strengths, but sometimes a looming weakness.

Just because an illegal immigrant who can't/won't learn English gets his CDL in California, doesn't mean he can't bring his 3rd world lawless driving decorum into Florida to kill people in red states who would never have voted to allow him drive an 18 wheeler for an unethical company willing to skirty any law if it means raising their profit margins. Thanks California! Both the state of California and this man's employer should be sued for crimes against the American people.
That was a sad accident. The driver should be charged appropriately. It is also disgusting of Ron DeSantis to turn this into an immigration issue. I drive the highways of Florida, and I see plenty of MAGA nuts driving like lunatics. Can we deport their asses too?
California gave this man a CDL license under California state law when he can't even read or speak English. If Newsome can impose a travel ban against Florida over the scamdemic vaccination nonsense, then surely Florida should be able to refuse to accept truckers with California CDLs, given that a California DEI CDL is a joke and possessed by those who are not qualified to drive an 18 wheeler, no matter how cheap their labor, nor how much is saves open borders California oligarchs like Gadianton.
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Stop being a fool, ajax. This is pure opportunistic pot-stirring on DeSantis' part. Florida is a catastrophe on its highways. I have seen more fatal pileups on Florida's highways than I have seen anywhere else in my life. I don't give a crap if Florida bans California truck drivers from its roads. Neither does Ron DeSantis. Indeed, I can guarantee he won't do it. This is all about generating MAGA headlines for the cult members by hating on brown people. Indeed, it is transparently about that. Plenty of fat-ass white-boy truckers cause huge accidents in Florida. Barring California truck drivers won't change a goddamn thing. That you are too stupid to understand this is completely unsurprising.

So true, Steuss. Another Trump fail. Where were Trump's secret police? They are too busy hanging out in downtown DC to be effective. Looks like it is all a big fascist show.
A double Trump fail. Not only did Trump's open border catch and release program allow this illegal immigrant to roam free in the US, but it was Trump's Federal MCSA that greenlighted Singh's licensure, despite him answering only two of the twelve questions correctly on the FMCSA proficiency test.

Why do Trump and MAGA care more about illegal immigrants than the safety of American citizens? Why did Trump appoint DEI hire Raymond P. Martinez, if he knew he wouldn't protect Americans? Does Martinez even know English?

Criminal incompetence. Imagine claiming you are being law and order tough but you can't even manage to grade a licensure questionnaire correctly. And how deadly the results of this eff-up are! All they can do is correctly gamble that their cult members will be too dumb to see their incompetence when they blame the "librulz" instead. If it were not for the stupidity of MAGA, these buffoons would be in even worse trouble than they are.

Because he is banking on the stupidity, hatred, and cult mentality of his MAGA marks.

On a sincere and serious note, I hope that California's DMV will be doing an investigation to find out how this guy was licensed, given that California's law surrounding CDLs is pretty unambiguous regarding English language requirements. Whoever tested this guy, and signed off, has some explaining to do.

Are you in favor of giving CDL licenses to people who cannot/won't learn English?

There is no federal CDL. California gave him a CDL, not the Trump administration. And on top of that the first Trump administration was the deep state, which obviously was at odds with anything and everything that MAGA voted for.

The federal government sets CDL requirements through the FMCSA. States have to follow these federal CDL requirements. Trump's FMCSA set the minimum standards that California had to follow. States can only implement STRICTER rules surrounding CDL requirements. That is the only discretion states have when it comes to issuing a CDL. They have to follow the federal (i.e. Trump ADMINISTRATION in 2018) guidelines established by the FMCSA, and can only add additional and stricture procedures and qualifications if they want. They cannot reduce and lessen the federal CDL requirements.

There was definitely a failure on the part of whoever tested and passed this guy, as far as California's additional stricture testing standards and law are concerned. Had they just followed Trump's minimum standards, instead of California's stricter standards, who knows how many more illegal immigrants that can't speak English and can't identify road signs would have killed people.

Thankfully Newsome and the leftist liberal communist socialists care more about America and its citizens than Trump.
And on top of that the first Trump administration was the deep state, which obviously was at odds with anything and everything that MAGA voted for.
MAGA voted for Trump again, because everything he did the first time wasn't what they voted for.

MAGA logic is truly a thing to behold.
