One interesting note: Rubio said on the day the murder was announced in September that the boat was probably headed toward Trinidad or another Caribbean nation. Apparently, his instinct to tell some truth to the public was corrected overnight and he echoed Trump’s lie the next day.

The whole operation is nonsensical if protecting American lives Is the goal. The primary drug threat to American lives is fentanyl, which is not produced in or shipped from Venezuela. And Venezuela is not the main source of cocaine that is smuggled to the US. As the article notes, the crew that the US murdered was headed for Surinam, a hub for smuggling cocaine into Europe. This was the predictable result of giving the guy with absolute pardon power a stay out of jail free card.
