Oh, so you're stupid enough to believe that right wing lie? Yes, of course you are.

Various countries have various laws, rulings, and policies that address that issue. Refugees and asylum seekers aren't limited to seeking asylum at US embassies.

Huffpo just published an article about that girl in the photo noting that MOST MAJOR MEDIA OUTLETS INCLUDING HUFPO, noted in their initial coverage that what happened to the little girl was unparents. Time used it because it was one of few photos anyone was able to get.
Not that this in any way changes the fact that hundreds of little girls just like her were separated from her parents. If it turned out that no kids were torn from their parents at all, then youd have a valid beef because this would be on par with Fox and Breitbart.

Well I worked at the embassy in Brasilia for 6 months. Asylum seekers were required to present themselves at a port of entry and you can Google this and see that this is the case for consulates throughout Latin America. I'm sitting on my ass waiting for an oil change otherwise I'd post some links

I'm mostly orienting my comment toward the faux outrage of "what erbert da chilrenz?.
Nobody dares address the inherently cruel act of wrenching your child out of their world, across who knows what, in order to immigrate illegally under the guise of seeking asylum because ermugerg der er bed pekple in mer country.
We all know it's bull crap. But god forbid anyone call a spade a spade.
Lest anyone forget I'm pro-work visa for immigrants that grant a tax id number, and if they can support themselves with no serious criminal offenses after 4 or 5 years they should be allowed to apply for citizenship.

I'm laying in a bed in Connecticut typing on a tablet. I refuse to provide links because this is a pain in the ass.

Asylum is a form of legal protection available to certain people who cannot or would not feel safe if they tried to live in their home country, because of past persecution or the danger of future persecution based on their race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion.
Unfortunately, U.S. embassies and consulates cannot process requests for this form of protection because, under U.S. law, asylum seekers can apply only if they are physically present in the United States (or at least at a U.S. border or other point of entry).
