I’ve heard it before. Even ajax here has said as much when he claimed that the supposed treatment of Romney by the left so many years ago is what galvanized many right-leaning voters to later go with ‘the asshole’ on the right, regardless of his history of fraud, grift and corruption. When other people hear that excuse, what is the expected reaction?
And this excuse has even been given on this board so many dozens of times for acting out and acting badly. I can point you to examples, many from puppet accounts like ‘Atlantic Mike’ (and where is your Hound proxy these days, anyway?).
This isn’t all that bad of a reason, even. It’s just an immature and nonsensical reason given by emotionally crippled individuals. You can always stamp your feet and pretend that the folks who’ve said it and used that excuse didn’t actually say it and use it, but that would just look …

worse. After all, you can always go with acknowledging that many in the MAGA movement seem driven primarily or exclusively by racism and/or hatred of immigrants. They’re cheering on every example of yanking people out of their lives and kicking them out of the country, even if they are in the midst of the legal citizenship process, and even when they’re showing up to their final interviews. Why? It can’t be that they weren’t playing by the rules, right?
I don’t see much more that MAGA focuses on, and i don’t see the Administration making lives better for Americans in general when we’re trashing our reputation abroad, disparaging our allies and insulting long-term trade partners, turning our backs on any sort of assistance, and playing like Putin’s hand puppet, all while increasing the debt and deficit, and with inflation muddling on and prices on energy, groceries, housing and health care continue their climb.
So what’s in it for MAGA at this point except for the hatred?
