I didn't "fail" in my first career choice.
I was two weeks from starting the Police Acadamy, and I had a tech glitch with paperwork that there wasn't time to fix, and that time caused me to re-evaluate what I wanted to do career wise and for family, and I realized I wanted to work a more normal schedual so as to be there better for family, and so I switched to being a Teacher. At first I thought about continuing my education in Music, but being married and practical thoughts had me continue the teaching route. Of course, the ex screwed that up, but that's another story. In transition now after many years, don't know which way to go anymore since there's so much I was supposed to have done.

Anyway, more ignorant lying from you about people.

Not to put a too fine a point on it, but he read it. He didn't understand what he read.

You are really stretching the definition of "read" here... : )

I wonder if ldsfaqs spent some time as a security guard at Walmart?

I used to think that the Panelists on the Gong Show were living in the lowest circle of hell for celebrities. But there was something lower, something seamier...

I think I saw The Thing with Two Heads one night while twisting through the train wrecks of late night movies brought to you by Karpet Kompanies and sleazy auto salesmen riding wild animals.

You know, late night TV before cable.

As to the movie, The script was gawdawful (what little I remember of it), but embarrassing is the word that comes to mind. They both looked embarassed to be in the insane rig that tried to hide Milan's body behind Grier.

These are guys that deserved better. These are two guys who had respectable careers: Ray Milland won an Oscar for Best Actor.

Roosevelt Grier is an unlikely historical footnote.

He was an outstanding (2 Pro bowls) Defensive Tackle for the Giants and Rams. After his pro career ended, he became an enthusiastic supporter of Robert Kennedy. He was providing security for the Senator and his wife, Ethel, at the Ambassador Hotel the night the Senator won the California Democratic Primary. After the Senator finished his victory speech ("and now it's on to Chicago"), Grier stayed behind to help the pregnant Mrs. Kennedy down from the podium.

He heard gunfire and ran towards the kitchen and saw Sirhan Sirhan waving a gun:

I got his gun and his leg and pulled him up on this table. George Plimpton was trying to wrestle the gun out of his hand, but George couldn't do it. He wasn't strong enough. And so I had my hand covering George's hand, and so I just kind of put my finger under the hammer so it couldn't fire."

As a result of Robert F. Kennedy's assassination, Congress authorized protection of major presidential and vice presidential candidates and nominees.

Wow, that's a fascinating image. Hadn't seen that one before now.

Your avatar is Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, right?
