Thank you Ajax, I sincerely appreciate that. Really. Self-esteem and body image have always been rascally for me, so these types of comments are like healing balm.
It does always amuse (or frighten?) me how much our brains get distorted about our own appearance. I think I've met exactly 2 elite athletes that I thought had a perfectly healthy take on their own bodies appearance and it doesn't get much better for us plebs.
Anyways, I'm super jealous of that mass Steuss, killer genes and killer work. I've always been horrible at being able to size up which left me out of being competitive in a lot of the big power sports. Do the kids still say " 'mirin hard "?

I had a therapist that said something that's stuck with me through the years. Our youngest self will always be our oldest self. That 12-year-old wearing hand-me-down clothes, thrift store glasses frames, bowl haircut with the same sized noggin I have now, and toothpick arms, will always be older than any version of myself that came after. 45-year-old me is only months old. A version of myself that's only months old trying to compete with a version that's decades old can be difficult.

Thank you Xeno. Fun story -- the "traditional lineage" of my paternal line starts with Odin, king of Asgard. Now I just need to figure out what genes are responsible for me feeling like I'm a thousand years old all of the time (maybe it's the same ones).
My dad and brothers are all a lot taller than me. Even my sister is the same height as me. I think the genes that were supposed to make me tall got confused, and went horizontal.

You're certainly welcome. That heritage probably explains both parts . My brother-in-law has the similar "problem". That whole family is some of the strongest mother truckers I've ever seen and all the girls got their height from their dad, he drew that short straw though. Well you can imagine what happens when you take that freakish strength and move it into a 5'7" body instead of 6+'. I'd imagine you lucked out and got all the power.

It stayed with that Thor character, and the other Aesir gods. Other than Odin, the family line seems to have gone the Vanir gods route.

Basically, the fun gods that were all about fertility and prosperity that lived in Vanaheim. Asgard was for losers (sorry g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-grandpa).
Ha! Yeah, Volodymyr Shmondenko is awesome. He weighs somewhere around 170 lbs, and I think his deadlift max is almost 650.
He's actually from Ukraine. He was living in Moskow when Russia invaded Ukraine, and moved to Dubai and learned English there. I think he's only been speaking English for like 2 years, which to me is as impressive as his insane strength.
