Could the Russian motivation be the loss of Trump as an asset?
Well, their ultimate motivation is to balkanize the US into regions that make us less cohesive and less influential in the world, especially as it relates to Europe, the Arctic, and to a lesser extent the Western hemisphere. I have no idea to what extent the Russians have kompromat on Trump, but they do have him and his family in their pocket. I just think it's a lucky moment we discovered this now, under Trump's regime, rather than have them attack our infrastructure after Biden takes office - you can imagine the outcry the Right would've had. I'm just wondering to what degree they have us by the balls, and what that means for us, strategically, moving into the next four years.

eta: Because this whole thing is an abstraction, I don't think people truly grasp what would happen if they were to actually pull the trigger on comms, supply chain systems, the grid, or even potentially nuclear sites. The resulting disaster would dwarf any prior disaster we've known. Even the civil war. Like, this is the thing that woke me up this morning. When Romney said this was an act of war, he wasn't being hyperbolic. It's as if they physically occupied our data centers, our nuclear sites, our reservoirs, supply chain headquarters, and other vitals mechanism that make this country safe/functional and it's really up to them to set off charges. This is probably the most serious chess move the Russians have made since the Cuban missile crisis.

what a crock.
The CCP is flushed out, Stalwell (the cheerleader for all things Russia!Russia!Russia!), and countless other Democrats are implicated as being in that cluster of a controversy - and here we go back to Russia.
Forget whatever China is doing and how they have obviously compromised a member of the intelligence committee etc - nope, let us circle back to pee tapes.
your posts have become a pitiful little embers of a hair fire that just smells funny, but looks sad..

Weird how it was just China when Trump was cozying up to their dictator and making false claims about their diplomatic achievements. Now suddenly when a Democrat has anything to do with anyone who is Chinese, it becomes "The Chinese Communist Party" and there is something nefarious afoot.

Coincidentally, I'm reading a novel called "Ministry for the Future." Cyber attacks play a significant role. One against the Swiss banking system illustrated how much havoc could be caused.

I'm trying to wrap my brain around how serious this attack was, but I don't really understand the consequences.

Ministry for the Future
I'm on a reading kick right now, so if you recommend this I'll add it to my list.

I'm in the middle of it and find it fascinating. I'm going to start a thread that discusses it.

Yep. Here’s how it goes:

1. Manufacture fairytale bullshyte about voter fraud and Biden supposedly being in bed with the Chicoms,

2. Agitate for 2nd Amendment ‘solutions’ and insurrection ... leading to US Balkanization,

3. Watch in surprise as the end result of destroying the very thing that stands between them and greater Soviet and Chinese influence worldwide backfires.

Would the Confederate Union of Trumpistan - if the wet dream of many seditious right-wingers was realized - have much to say about China aggressively bringing Taiwan back into their circle, or the Russians taking a few aggressive moves towards our territories, or Europe? The Confederacy would just have to sit back and watch communism become more widespread and entrenched. They’d be poorer than the Union that they seceded from and too busy trying to keep their heads above water as a new nation. And all because they were too emotionally stunted to control their million-man tantrum that eventually broke the US.

If the current crop of Trumpsters really believe that their life would be so horrendous under Biden because they might occasionally run across a gender-neutral restroom or have to pay 1 percent more in taxes to finance our debt, then they’ll be in for a bit of a surprise when the Confederacy and its people break under the financial strain of trying to support, feed and defend itself in the face of competing interests from Russia and China, one less coast and the remainder of the non-Confederate US. And that’s just the beginning of their problems.

Says the fellow who seeks to ignore the most significant adversarial hack against our nation in modern history while whining that no-one is paying attention to Hunter Biden’s three-year-old laptop.

Your game isn’t very convincing.

Let me tell you something. The federal government would never cede the Gulf Coast and the Miss. river shipping lane to seditionists. The Nu Confederacy might be allowed some ports, but they’ll never get territorial claims to the waters and coastline in toto.

Just typing that out was too ridiculous, by the way. The Flynnians are living in a fantasy world if they think this will ever happen.

The Axios story that fed the right wing pivot to Stalwell also acknowledged that once the FBI made Stalwell aware of the threat he broke off ties from her back in 2015. His prior affiliations being he met her, she did some fund raising for him, and his staff hired an intern she suggested, all before 2015. The original article acknowledges he had tenuous ties to her and ended them.

But conservative sources make it sound like he was damned this Chinese spy and she has his balls in a baggie. This gets further extrapolated into the idea he owes his political existence to the Chinese so he's feeding them vital information. It's bizarre how easily manipulated and slow to actually check sources y'all are. But I guess that's part of the point with Cam's sobering posts above.
