Nice! I tried to get on and play last night, but this double points weekend thing seems to be jamming up the servers. I had to quit out of a bunch of games due to server connection errors. I played some this morning and it was much better. I just unlocked the AK-74. Now I need to work on leveling it up.

What games do you usually play? I only play Free For All and Mercenary Team Deathmatch. The other team games intimidate me because I'm not that good and I don't feel like getting yelled at by a bunch of tweeners for sucking.

I've temporarily given up my red tiger camo M60E - I'm using the double XP weekend to do my first prestige. I'm up to level 23 or something like that already - I'm hoping to at least be in the 40s before the weekend is out.

I like TDM and Free For All, too. And I really like Domination. Most people are pretty mellow on that one. Headquarters can be fun, but it usually turns into a frag-fest.

I've been doing a lot of Ground Wars, too - more people, and it's either Domination or TDM.

I'm trying to get better at Sabotage. I'm not big on carrying the bomb, though. But my clan likes to play, so I try. I hate Search and Destroy, but mostly because when I'm the last one standing, I know everybody is watching me. So I freak out and do something embarrassing. But I think as I get better at Sabotage, I can apply that to S&D.

You should try the other team games - they can be a lot of fun. Tell you what - if you're on next time I'm playing with my clan, I'll invite you in. The ladies are cool - nobody will ride your ass. You can try it out.

I'd better get back on and rank up while I can.

I can't let myself get sucked into this world. For one reason is that it strikes me as like smoking: I like it too much and don't want to get the habit. The other is that I'm insanely overclocked as it is right now. I have no time for anything more on my plate. Not even that extra helping of pudding. The only "new" online thing I've added to my life recently is Facebook because I figured out it could function as a one-stop-shopping approach to keeping in touch with people because I've finally given up on being able to return email in a reasonable amount of time, if at all. (By the way...if you're a friend of mine here and want to connect on Facebook pm me please.)

All that said---I probably never made the transition from arcade games. Tempest defined how I approach gaming: I like it abstract and aesthetic and satisfying on an OCD level. The only thing I've ever enjoyed as much is Katamari Damacy, which I don't play all the time because I lack the required system (I do fiddle with a flash version now and then---its relaxing like Music Catch another flash game I like purely because of the music).

I don't even play around on Second Life that much because I have so little spare time and it keeps getting more and more complicated just like First Life and argh! the Horror! the Horror!

That was fun. 888,456 points.

I love playing online games with my brothers. We play all sorts from things like Risk or Settlers, to free multiplayer-RPGs like Mabinogi, to shooters like Gears of War or Shadowrun. When they aren't around, I often find myself going old-school. I love classic Nintendo/SNES games like Castlevania, Metroid, Zelda, Megaman, and Final Fantasy. More recently, I've been focusing on either playing really old-school games like Zork and Rogue. I've even tried my hand at some old text MUDs, but I put that on the sidelines because none of my friends play them.

For music games, I've been playing StepMania, but on my keyboard since I don't have a dance pad.

For puzzle games, I have a brain-age like game which includes Sudoku. Nonograms were also fun for a while.

This is one thing I really like about this generation of console-gaming (i.e. PS3 and Xbox 360). Both have an arcade service where you can download arcade style games. PS3 has a game called Super Stardust HD which is like asteroids on steroids. The music and the gameplay are great. I can sit and zone out for a bit while piling up points (there is something rewarding about getting a high score). I'll have to try out this Music Catch game.

I'm not a big gamer. If you put it in front of me I'll play, but more than 30 minutes at a time and I'm meh. THe one exception I've ever done was Star Wars Knight of the Old Republic 1 and 2 [1 was great 2 was so-so]. I once played 2 I guess straight through, 24 hours during one of my terrible insomnia episodes. But since I've been sleeping better I hardly play at all, coupled with work and school. Sadly/Luckily I don't have to deal with a girlfriend :O( so I still get in the occasional game of FIFA 07.

I have a sad tale to tell.

My copy of "Hearts if Iron II: Anthology" finally came in the mail today. I was excited to get back into it after a two-year absence.

Unfortunately, the game comes on a DVD-Rom, and I only have a CD-Rom drive. So I can't play it!

Woe is me!

Depending on the copy protection and EULA, you could always have a friend rip the DVD and then break it up into CDs, help you copy them to your hard drive, and then recombine it to a virtual DVD on the harddrive that you run using Daemon Tools.

Its very minimal. I found an mp3 of the music...it was done by the same guy who made the game, which is nice. I also love how nice the game is to you, commenting elegantly when you score a lot and being rather sympathizing when something goes wrong...

What are you running? A Pent II?

Go buy yourself a $35 DVD/CD Player/Burner by university mall.

I am not that much into games any more. Quite a few years ago I was really into Unreal Tournament. I sitll fire it up once every few months and play Capture the Flag with Total Strangers online. I am surprised people still have servers running for that game.

My little daughter started turning into a GBA gamer. She was obsessed with playing and started having to limit her. One day it finally broke she now plays with "My Little Ponies".

Video of her ripping it up.
