If you are talking about the current crisis, it wasn't caused by Wall Street, it was caused by Liberals and their policy's. Just look at the videos on Youtube of Barny Frank etc. saying there was nothing wrong with Fanny/Freddy etc. years ago when Bush, etc. was trying to STOP the problem we are currently in. It's liberals who implemented the requirements for lending institutions to give loans to people that couldn't prove they could pay for homes, and then to package all these bad loans, speculating on a shell game. . . .
Aw, come on, stop it, before I bust a gut! I have to say, you're a lot more fun to listen to than Glenn Beck!

There is for example a reason why most "youth" are Liberal, that's because they still think like children, not having deep thinking and knowledge skills, and also as most youth grow they tend to become more Conservative. . . .
Or it could be that older people were born in an earlier era, and have grown attached to the way things used to be done back in the "good old days". And it probably doesn't help that people's brain plasticity tends to decrease as they get older, making them less able to keep up with scientific progress and changing circumstances.

The sharp divide between 'good' and 'bad' political thought that borders on Orwellian.

No. It's because they are exposed to leftwing college professors who are college professors precisely because they can't keep up with scientific progress and live and compete in the real world.

You're right, there's a definite correlation between education and liberalism.

It used to be that liberals were predominately found among the very poorly educated and the very highly educated with conservatives dominating those with some college, college, and masters degrees. For the past decade or so since conservative populism started to take hold this trend has modified a bit where liberals are doing better and better with the middle educated and conservatives are picking off more of the poorly educated.

Hey Hey Chris, I hit 66 and I hope can at least keep up with "scientific progress and changing circumstances" If I learn some Greek next semester I should grow some new connections in my brain and stave off dementia. Every day I read the Huff Post, a "liberal" online newspaper, I take my laptop and books on the train to work with me, annoy you with the occassional email question. I was always a Labour supporter. Labour brought in universal medicare, people have a choice of either taking out private health insurance or being part of medicare (1.5% of your salary) The system has become so popular the conservatives would not dare change it. Many young people here are involved in causes like Greenpeace, Doctors without Borders. I hardly think they "still think like children"

Good for you, Noel. Learning new things is a good way to keep your brain nice and limber as you get older. (Another good way is calorie restriction, but who wants to do that?) :-)
