MsJack wrote:I spoke in church this morning about my daughter's disabilities and upcoming surgery. Just for a few minutes. It was part testimony and part exhortation. Audio here. I'm in at about 17 minutes.
We had a little microphone trouble before I get started. I almost made it to the end without crying.
I'm late catching up. I'm glad that your daughter is doing better, and hope that you are doing well with your new diagnosis.
As an aside, I'm glad you understand the difference between "testimony," "exhortation," and "preaching." Maybe we can exchange notes about it sometime. I think its important to the beginning of Mormonism.
Wishing you continuing good luck.

Thanks for the good wishes, Lulu. I think my understanding of the differences is still formative (haven't taken a preaching class or anything), and I do think that there is some overlap. For instance, good preaching usually contains an exhortation of some kind. But yes, there are differences.
Last chance to get in orders to buy Girl Scout cookies from my daughter! I have to turn in our orders tomorrow afternoon. She's at 85 boxes having only sold them for 13 days with the surgery mixed in there, and I am ever-so-proud of her.
Still going to come back to the questions on this thread, been busy this week setting up my field ed and doing some stuff for my thesis.

Harley's final tally was 127 boxes. I think that is splendid for having only sold cookies for two weeks. Very proud of her. Thank you everyone who supported her!

Re: Update on my daughter
I think I have some bad news. Harley began complaining today that there was a hole in the roof of her mouth, and "it's getting bigger." I looked in her mouth and was startled to see what even I recognized as a hole. By the time her father got home from work tonight, it was a crack. (See picture here.)
I'm hoping to get a hold of her surgeon tomorrow, but I don't think the surgery took. I don't see how this could possibly be the final product.
Devastated.
