Sethbag wrote:Bob, please don't make it sound like we as critics are one organized cabal such that the actions of one can reflect on all. If you haven't read the myriad threads around DCP's so-called death threats, you should. Many of us critics have decried the use of these tactics, and I believe it would be a small minority of the critics on this board who would agree with them.
But, it does seem to me that the sort of collateral attack being made against Dr. Peterson receives a lot of applause here, which I think it ought to be universally and roundly condemned.
And, it does seem to me that the collateral attack is being mounted by posters from THIS board.
This is really poor form. What conduct, really, would justify such things from reasonable people? Is it really necessary to try and get somebody fired just because you don't like what they say in defense of the Church?
Who is applauding the person sending threatening emails to DCP? I've seen like one person, and it would seem to me most everyone else condemned it.
But I do have to agree with the prayer for relief to whatever deity one believes in, or just to the universe itself, to spare us from another Bob/Eric thread.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

I guess you're right, Bill. No one has ever filed a State Bar Complaint against you. I apologize.
I guess it was pretty disingenuous of you to claim to be the victim of a "State Bar Complaint to Squelch Criticism of Anti-Mormons" but I am glad you are using the term "anti-Mormon" instead of "faggot" when referring to people you don't like on the world wide websernet. Is an apology coming for that, too? (You are full of apologies these days!)
I think the takeaway of this whole thing is:
Bob and DCP are both emotionally unstable man-boys who allege threats and all kind of outlandishness when nothing whatsoever threatening has occurred. The real question is: is this pathological behavior a byproduct of Mormon Apologetics?
I've just reviewed the complaint again online. I have to believe that Mr. Coppit is aware that the complaint and response from the Chief Trial Counsel is posted online.
If there are other attorneys on the board, the State Bar's Inquiry Number for this Complaint is 12-24779. You can look it up for yourself.
After a complaint has been lodged, how long does it take for disciplinary charges to be filed in State Bar Court? Many complaints typically take up to six months to complete an investigation. In particularly complex cases, the investigation could take as long as a year. Many complaints are diverted out of the process along the way with, for example, a referral to mandatory mediation, an agreement requiring the attorney to meet certain conditions, or the attorney's participation in other programs
