If you wouldn't mind sharing your experience when you receive the results, I'd love to hear them. I ended up going with LivingDNA for my test (should get results in early April), but I keep wondering if I should have gone with one of the big names (like Ancestry).
I went with LivingDNA because they supposedly can provide more accurate and localized results for Europe and more specifically, Britain and Ireland (where most of my peeps come from, at least according to genealogy).

I'm fairly certain I'm 40% neanderthal. I'll be sure to post my results.

I wouldn't recommend ancestry. I did it. They said, you're 10% Scandinavian, 10% Irish and the rest western European. That leaves possibilities of German, Scottinsh, English, Dutch, Welsh, Celtic, etc. I learned more from the LDS family search website.

If it shows that there isn’t any Neanderthal DNA in me, then it means someone got freaky-deaky with a Tamarin somewhere along the line…
Nearly all Europeans have some Neanderthal DNA. It's essential for our immune system. And since Neanderthal DNA was found in humans, we weren't really separate species because we could interbreed.

There are actually quite a few species that can breed with a different species, and produce fertile offspring. One from here in North America is the Beefalo (an American Bison crossed with a domestic cow).

I thought the definition of species was if you can breed to produce fertile offspring. So a horse and donkey are still different species because mules are sterile.

Very interesting. As a side note this professor also believed that some tribes of Neanderthals had blue eyes. I'd be interested to see if the church would consider Neanderthals children of Adam and worthy of holding the priesthood if they were to have survived. They were a lot different from humans than any other modern racial group.
