It'll be fun to see if Trump's (and MAGA) anti-EV rhetoric stays the same. I'm guessing that Trump's little statement that "we have to make life good" for Musk is a preview. Because being the richest person in the world apparently doesn't make for a good life, without extra welfare from Uncle Sam.Kishkumen wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 9:03 pmI guess not too old for a $45 million-dollar-a-month allowance.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 7:01 pm"Trump would be 82 at end of term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the United States of America." - Elon Musk

‘MAGA Populism’ = billionaires helping billionaires while pretending to throw Middle Class America a dusty, crusty bone.Doctor Steuss wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 9:06 pmIt'll be fun to see if Trump's (and MAGA) anti-EV rhetoric stays the same. Does anyone fail to see the insanity of the idea that good governance somehow includes subsidizing the wealthiest of the wealthy, and helping them to become even wealthier and more powerful? Unlimited welfare and tax cuts for the already rich and powerful, and little or none for those who actually need a hand up? Isn't this the antithesis of what Christ taught? Yet these far-right Republicans and MAGA types claim to be devout Christians! Absolute BS!!Doctor Steuss wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 9:06 pmIt'll be fun to see if Trump's (and MAGA) anti-EV rhetoric stays the same. No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Most societies reward the wealthy with extra advantages, even though they are the least in need. It is mysterious why this should be the case.Doctor Steuss wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 9:06 pmIt'll be fun to see if Trump's (and MAGA) anti-EV rhetoric stays the same. And now we're hearing Musk back off of his 45 mil promise. Sup with clowns, can't be surprised when you get a circus.Doctor Steuss wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 9:06 pmIt'll be fun to see if Trump's (and MAGA) anti-EV rhetoric stays the same. You know, when I was young, the wealthy were not worshipped like the are today. They had a reputation for being miserly and cruel. We had a much healthier view of people accumulating more than they needed. Then self-help gurus came along and told us those attitudes were preventing us from becoming rich. No, actually, those attitudes helped us keep money in perspective.Gunnar wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 6:41 amDoes anyone fail to see the insanity of the idea that good governance somehow includes subsidizing the wealthiest of the wealthy, and helping them to become even wealthier and more powerful? We need to reclaim those attitudes and quit admiring people for being hoarders. It's insane.

Musk is a clown. Glad he is backing out, though. I am sure Li'l Donny will have other willing billionaire caricatures willing to donate lots of money to the cause.

Are you sure about that? Seemed to be click bait -- he said he wasn't supporting a cult of personality. He's supporting the Republican party in general, not Trump. more of a clarification. And now we're hearing Musk back off of his 45 mil promise
We can't take farmers and take all their people and send them back because they don't have maybe what they're supposed to have. They get rid of some of the people who have been there for 25 years and they work great and then you throw them out and they're replaced by criminals.

Highly possible I'm reading it wrong. It just seems with the timing of the Tesla earnings report Musk was aiming for his usual "over promise under deliver".
