You've never tried reason. You have only tried hyperventilating.

You would first have to demonstrate that republican deficit spending has been any different from democrat deficit spending. Recall, I got a check signed by Donald J. Trump himself if there is any question about how willing MAGA republicans are to spend.

Next you have a problem with the nature of the claim itself. You've come out in the past supporting the quantity theory of money. In monetarist frameworks, deficit spending crowds out, it doesn't cause inflation. There's a way you can make the link but you'd have to figure that out, and then present the case that it's a Democrat phenomena.

First you would have to demonstrate that democrat border policy has been different than republican border policy. Recall, up until Trump, Republicans have been pro immigration in general. They all use cheap immigrant labor so it's no wonder why. MAGA talking points aren't established policy. It's easy to talk. Recall that Donald Trump told his party not to support Biden's border deal because he wants an immigration problem so he can emerge as the hero and fix it. I do think there were some failings on the democrat side when Biden took over, but, those failings were due in part to just how poorly designed Trump's policies were. But again, I leave it to you to actually find the facts I'm talking about and bring the claim.

The larger problem you have with this claim, is that whatever the problems open borders cause, they don't cause inflation. There is no theory about how this happens at all, at least that I'm aware of. There are claims to the contrary, that illegal immigration lowers inflation, which makes sense in theory, but I have not seen data to support it. Yes, it's a right-wing talking point. A leftwing friend's father who is an old rancher/lawyer talks about illegals "eating up all the beef." This is the level of economic thought that comes out of MAGA. No, it's not reason, and it won't convince me.

I could in theory be convinced. I'm pretty defensive when it comes to my bottom line. I worry about growing old and out of a job and homeless. But, let's see a facts-based argument that the conservative agenda let alone Donald Trump has a fix for what otherwise, are like forces of nature that we don't have much control over.
