Re: Detransitioners vs the Progressive Machine: A Legal and Cultural Time Bomb
This is Luka. At 16, she underwent a double mastectomy, but four years later, she found herself regretting the decision. The depression and confusion she experienced were not rooted in her physical appearance, rather, they stemmed from mental anguish. After working through her depression and discovering her true self, she regretted removing her breasts.canpakes wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 8:32 pmMaybe Hound should talk about how to avoid the isolated cases of transitioned folks who regret their decisions, instead by of using their plight to try to score political points with hyperbolic and imagined stories about a nonexistent Marxist Progressive cabal supposedly trying to force him into cutting his junk off.huckelberry wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 7:56 pmI checked my Marxist progressive hand book. It was clear med providers pushing underage folks to change sex should be sent to a cold place east of the Urals.
However, according to Can'tpakes, the endorsement of a medical procedure by multiple doctors from various specialties, along with parental consent, legitimizes the practice of removing body parts from children, as deemed acceptable by certain progressive ideologies.
Alright, we find ourselves on page five of the discussion, so let's take a moment to remind everyone that with the recent posts from Can'tpakes and Captain Progressive, which appear to agree with the positive aspects of child mutilation, these two particular board members, while supporting surgical procedures related to child mutilation, express disagreement with the BYU policy from the 1970s that involved electroshock therapy on gay men. Let’s examine how the ideology of the progressive movement has influenced its followers to adopt extreme views, particularly through the beliefs of the most progressive board members in this discussion, namely Can'tpakes and Captain Progressive.
It is a universally accepted fact that electroshock therapy administered to gay men in an effort to eliminate their sexual orientation is both morally and ethically unacceptable. It is widely acknowledged that this so-called "therapy" conducted at BYU was likely carried out by individuals with conservative beliefs who rationalized their actions by claiming that it was God's will for them to help patients become heterosexual, ensuring their spirits could return to Him after death. Indeed, there is a consensus that right-wing electroshock therapy is unjust, and it is commendable that BYU has ceased such inhumane practices against gay men.
However, there is a clear contradiction among our most progressive members, such as Can'tpakes and Captain Progressive. Now that they are confronted with the reality that their far-left ideology, Marxist progressivism supports a procedure that is significantly more cruel, specifically, the removal of body parts to alleviate emotional and mental distress, they struggle to acknowledge that child mutilation is morally and ethically unacceptable. Admitting this would mean recognizing that their ideological beliefs contribute to the intentional infliction of physical harm and alteration to a child's body.
Progressive ideology leads it's members to believe electroshock therapy is cruel because it's right wing, but body mutilation performed on children is a "just cause" because it's performed by medical doctors that are part of their progressive cult!

Re: Detransitioners vs the Progressive Machine: A Legal and Cultural Time Bomb
Seems you think you have this all figured out, Hound. Here's the thing: you keep referring to electroshock therapy for gays at BYU. Do you think that it works/ed? Or would you say that it was a failure? What do you make of the motivations to do it? Were the people providing this therapy evil sadists or just woefully mistaken?
We can flip your comparison around and consider the provision of gender-affirming therapy in a more compassionate framework. In my view, the problem we face is borne of our desire to rush to judgment and condemn people. If one accepts that being gay is just a natural state of affairs--as I do--then electroshock therapy to "cure" gayness appears to be a very evil thing to do. But we have to suppose that the people applying the therapy shared our views--that they knew gayness was natural and OK but insisted on inflicting this failed treatment anyway.
Gender-affirming therapies are usually a lot more successful than trying to switch a homosexual to heterosexual preferences. Yes, there are cases where kids come to regret having gone through the therapy, and I think it is a very serious thing to intervene in the biological development of a child. But, given the fact that it often works and the kids are satisfied with the results, is it as monstrous as you are implying through these anecdotes? So, are the people practicing gender-affirming care evil because sometimes the kids regret having gone through it?
I am open to looking at this through different lenses, be they sociological, anthropological, psychological, biological, medical, etc. The primary motivation for failed treatments to change homosexuals to heterosexuals and gender-affirming therapies was the suffering of people who did not want to be as they were. Treatments arose to meet that need. I don't believe that coming up with treatments was an evil thing to do. The question is whether the treatments alleviate the suffering of those who receive them. In the gay electro-shock case, the answer is pretty clearly no. The data is quite different in the case of gender-affirming care. Yes, some people regret having received it. Many do not.
So, one can sensationalize what is done in order to create shock, anger, and hurt, but does that help in any way? What is your motivation for using the suffering of these few people for whom the treatment did not work? Are you willing to explore all of the cases in which the people who received gender-affirming care are very happy? Would you accept their sense of happiness or insist that they are wrong about their own experience?

Good luck with those questions. Hound has never really discussed anything so much as just used random anecdotes to push warped political claims.Kishkumen wrote: ↑Fri Oct 10, 2025 4:03 pmSo, one can sensationalize what is done in order to create shock, anger, and hurt, but does that help in any way? Ironically, the ‘progressives’ that Hound rails against are more likely than his MAGA friends to fund health care and counseling services designed to support the needs of minors with dysphoria and abuse histories. The Institute for Comprehensive Gender Dysphoria Research (right-wing and anti-trans aligned) admits as much, when it stated "The majority (55.0%) felt that they did not receive an adequate evaluation from a doctor or mental health professional before starting transition..."
The current Administration is pulling the rug on healthcare affordability for Americans and the Republican leaders in Congress prefer to shutter the Federal Government rather than talk about it. That’s not doing anything to help this situation.
