Re: Kavanaugh and Perjury
I've only been watching the hearing for the last hour or so, but holy crap, Republicans have no shame. They truly must think Americans are stupid. Given they keep getting elected, they're right.
This is the most blatant show of hypocrisy I've seen in my life.

Other than the genius move of bringing in Mitchell;
this:
this:
The Democrats screwed America. It doesn’t matter if you believe Christine Blasey Ford or Brett Kavanaugh. Both sides were done a tremendous disservice by the manner in which Senate Democrats deliberately slow-walked these charges because they thought that they could be used to kill the Kavanaugh nomination.
Holding Ford’s allegations until after the initial hearings publicly exposed both Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh in ways that were absolutely unnecessary. It hurt both of these people and their families. And it hurt the rest of America, too. It has sowed discord in a society that is already on the brink.

Lol. Nope.
Nothing from the author of that excerpt can stand on reason. Especially given that this is far from ‘slow-walked’. Can’t complain much when the previous fellow was ‘no walked’ by the opposite side of the fence.

If there is no proof, then it is utterly antithetical to a democratic republic to convict someone even in the court of public opinion, to convict someone solely on an allegation. That was what the Salem Witch Trials did.

It is also to the extreme at which he denies it. You're telling me you believe a man that has been reported to drink quite heavily has never "gotten fuzzy". It isn't that he denies something like being an alcoholic it is that he has essentially suggested that his faculties have never being seriously impaired, call it what you will but I find that completely implausible.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote:Why do you say that?
Oh. I think it's pretty clear he binged drank (drunk? drinked?) in high school. I did a couple of times, despite being a good Mormon (boy did I feel guilty for that), and ended up puking in someone's garden. Are there people on this board who haven't drank themselves sick? If so, I admire you very much.

I think the big takeaway, at least from my perspective, is if the Democrats don't get him removed they just made a bitter, lifelong enemy out of him. That dude is pissed.
No one makes him anything other than what his own maturity and sensibilities will dictate. If he needs to inhabit vengeful child territory for the rest of his life on the bench, then he was never qualified to be there in the first place.
Well. The American Bar Association put out a statement that indicates he'll be impartial, fair minded, and the paragon of judicial virtue. So maybe they know better than I do.

I actually held out hope for that until I heard him today, ranting on and on like an injured teen in a pissfest. I was not expecting such a relentless outpouring of juvenile self pity.

Okay... but his testimony suggested he didn't binge drink and was never truly impaired by his drinking. Thus my comments on his testimony being less than truthful.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote:Oh. I'm more than willing to admit that I drank to excess far too many times. How does me being willing to admit that have any bearing on him lying about his drinking though?

I know, right? I don't think he qualifies for the Supreme Court simply based on his temperament. He did nothing to dispel the idea of spoiled frat boy expecting to get away with it.
