Well, I certainly don't blame you for wanting a Supreme Court nominee to be able to handle, uh, this kind of thing better.

On the upside, former NBA player Christ Dudley says this about Kavanaugh:

https://sports.yahoo.com/former-nba-pla ... 49207.html

Former NBA player Chris Dudley refuted claims made by fellow classmates about Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh this week, saying he “never, ever saw him blacked out” while they were at parties during their Yale days.

Kavanaugh’s character has come into question following his confirmation hearing and the initial report from Christine Blasey Ford that he sexually assaulted her during a drunken party in high school. Ford initially sent a letter to her senator in July. Two women have since accused him of sexual assault, including Debbie Ramirez. Ramirez said he exposed himself to her during a party their freshman year at Yale.

Kavanaugh is set to appear Thursday in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Media outlets have pored over yearbooks and contacted friends and former classmates, including Dudley, about Kavanaugh’s time in high school and college. Dudley ran for Oregon governor on the Republican ticket in 2010.

“That’s just not Brett,” Dudley told the New York Times regarding how the allegations don’t align with the Kavanaugh he knows. “That’s not in his character.”

Dudley ‘never, ever saw him blacked out’

Dudley and Kavanaugh attended Yale University as undergraduates between 1983 and 1987 and were close friends, according to Buzzfeed. Dudley went on to play 16 seasons in the NBA, beginning with the Cleveland Cavaliers and ending with the Portland Trail Blazers. Kavanaugh stayed at Yale for law school.

Buzzfeed journalist Molly Hensley-Clancy talked to former college classmates of Kavanaugh, some of whom characterized the nominee as one who “drank a lot — he wasn’t falling asleep reading a book.” Dudley refuted claims he was a “notably heavy drinker” who often became “aggressive and belligerent.”

“When he went out Friday nights, I was usually with him,” Dudley told Buzzfeed News. “I never, ever saw him blacked out, never… Brett would drink, but he’d also be the guy who never missed a class. There’s a reason he was top of his class.”

Dudley says Kavanaugh is being ‘unfairly maligned’

The Washington Post also contacted Dudley for its piece on how Kavanaugh’s “choir boy” image interview Monday night on Fox News didn’t sit well with Yale classmates.

Dudley provided one of Washington Post’s dissenting opinions and told the paper he feels his “great friend” is being unfairly maligned.

“I went out with him all the time. He never blacked out. Never even close to blacked out,” Dudley said. “There was drinking, and there was alcohol. Brett drank, and I drank. Did he get inebriated sometimes? Yes. Did I? Yes. Just like every other college kid in America.”

So, none of witnesses for Ford were corroborated, while Kavanaugh has a LOT of people testifying on various aspects of his behavior and character. I think it's worth noting.

yes, how dare he be upset at the Democrats and the divine Senator Feinstein.

Oh, did he throw himself on Feinstein, too?

I did a couple of times, despite being a good Mormon (boy did I feel guilty for that), and ended up puking in someone's garden. Are there people on this board who haven't drank themselves sick? If so, I admire you very much.

Okay... but his testimony suggested he didn't binge drink and was never truly impaired by his drinking. Thus my comments on his testimony being less than truthful.

I'm more than willing to admit that I drank to excess far too many times. How does me being willing to admit that have any bearing on him lying about his drinking though?

It doesn't. It's an idiotic distraction.

But as we've learned, for the GOP, it's not about character and credibility. It's about optics and power.

Nobody particularly cares if Kavanaugh got drunk in high school. They certainly care about him lying about it if he intends to sit on the highest court in this country. How is that difficult to understand?

Doc I'm having a really difficult time following your line of argumentation. How does what you posted refute my explanation for why I think he was lying about his drinking, particular in response to direct Senator questions?

Really. Who should we be mad at, and why?

At least you might explore that question. subs doesn’t have the cajones to do it himself.

Well, I just posted a character testimonial of friend and former NBA guy Chris Dudley in addition to Kavanaugh's testimony that suggests what you're outright stating probably wasn't the case? Would you have preferred he admit that he drank himself sick x-amount of times?

eta: If you posted some sort of corroboration like I did somewhere in the thread I apologize for having missed it. I can go back through the thread and find it.

I actually thought the way the GOP senators were treating her was bad optics. I haven't even seen the Ford parts yet.

I'm trying to imagine women walking away from the hearing thinking, Wow. The Republicans really nailed that. Their indignant talk about how the hearing and Democrat treatment of Kavanaugh was all a disgrace was, well, fooling only their base. They tried to appease women by paying respectful lip service to Ford's testimony while blaming Democrats for her testimony. Who is actually fooled by that?
