Re: Good Stories and Music?
Here is one of my mast favorite hymns. Today, often the verses are forgotten, but here is a complete and wonderful rendition of this most beautiful song: http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=you ... 07A0DDA5A9
The Heavenly Vision or Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There's light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
Refrain:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face;
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace.
Thro' death into life everlasting
He pass'd, and we follow him there
Over us sin hath no more dominion
For more than conquer'Relief Society we are!
His word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe him and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell.

Re: Good Stories and Music?
Here is a little song that became popular in 1953 due to a cute movie. The song is called "Hi Lili, Hi Lo". It reach #30 on the pop charts back then. Likely the movie would never have been made today ---- and one can only realize that such a sweet little song likely would have no place in the world of today to even reach the charts. But it is at least one song that I remember fondly.
I hope you all enjoy this. http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=hi+ ... 4C9DFE4C72

This tune from the sixties takes me back to my youth. I like to consider Jesus as I listen to it. I know, I know --- this doesn't fit every verse, but I know I'll never find another like Jesus!

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free
Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night
Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Happy Thanksgiving ----- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD7VInFPKLw
We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;
He chastens and hastens His will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing;
Sing praises to His Name; He forgets not His own.
Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining His kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, were at our side, all glory be Thine!
We all do extol Thee, Thou Leader triumphant,
And pray that Thou still our Defender will be;
Let Thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

And now for this time of advent! http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=the ... 62E9DDE90D
In the little village of Bethlehem
There lay a child one day
And the sky was bright with a Holy light
O'er the place where Jesus lay
Chorus
Halleluia, oh how the angels sang
Halleluia, how it rang
And the sky was bright with God's holy light
It was the birthday of the king
It was a humble birthplace but oh how much
God gave to us that day
From the manger bed what a path was led
What a perfect, holy way
Chorus
In the little village of Bethlehem
There lay a child one day
And the sky was bright with a Holy light
O'er the place where Jesus lay
Chorus
Halleluia, oh how the angels sang
Halleluia, how it rang
And the sky was bright with God's holy light
It was the birthday of the king
It was a humble birthplace but oh how much
God gave to us that day
From the manger bed what a path was led
What a perfect, holy way
Chorus

Little Nipper,
Thanks for sharing. :)
The other day, this song brought tears to my eyes...
Angels Among Us
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PB7mDvfLhrg
It reminded me of the many times I've been saved - physically, and psychologically.
Another country song (Maybe it's in my genes)...
Holes in the floor of Heaven

Re: Good Stories and Music?
The you-tube videos of this song have been co-opted for Mormon Themes, to which I object. But the song its self, and the lyrics speak to me...
There are refugees among us
That are not from foreign shores;
And the battles they are waging
Are from very private wars.
And there are no correspondents
Documenting all their grief,
But these refugees among us all
Are yearning for relief.
There are refugees among us.
They don't carry flags or signs.
They are standing right beside us
In the market check out lines;
And the war they've been fighting
It will not be televised,
But the story of their need for love
Is written in their eyes.
This is a call to arms,
To reach out and to hold
The evacuees from the dark.
This is a call to arms,
To lead anguished souls
To safe harbors of the heart.
Can you see through their disguises?
Can you hear what words won't tell?
Some are losing faith in Heaven
'Cause their life's a living Hell.
Is there anyone to help those
Who have no where else to flee?
For the only arms protecting them
belong to you and me.
This is a call to arms,
To reach out and to hold
The evacuees from the dark.
This is a call to arms,
To lead anguished souls
To safe harbors of the heart.
Can you feel the pleas of the refugees
For safe harbors of the heart?
This is a call to arms,
To reach out and to hold
The evacuees from the dark.
This is a call to arms,
To lead anguished souls
To safe harbors of the heart.

Truly one of the BEST modern Christmas Carols, and one of my all time faves. This carol was written by Mark Lowry. Here he is singing the song as he envisioned it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXmfkFoX-PE Back-up is the Gaither Vocal Band.LittleNipper wrote:Mary did you know?
