Just need to find 16 Republican Senators with a moral conscience and then Trump is convicted and removed from office.

What did Trump do that is a high crime or misdemeanor? I don't really like him as president but dislike isn't enough to impeach. Is it the false Russia narrative the cause for impeachment?

If the Senate ends up being 50/50 that would be a huge win too.

I hope not. I want to see the House passing bills on healthcare, infrastructure, clean energy, immigration, etc. to show what Democrats would do with control of the government.

There is no "false narrative." He stood up before the world and basically said on national television that US intelligence agencies were wrong, and that he stood with Russian dictator Vladamir Putin in his denial to have orchestrated a cyber war to undermine our elections.

But he can be impeached on a number of issues, not least of which is his failure to support and defend the Constitution. When you willfully violate the emoluments clause, you're violating your oath.

Donald Trump’s High Crimes and Misdemeanors

If Nixon and Clinton could be impeached, why not Trump?

If breaking the law (by lying under oath) to conceal an affair was impeachable, why is breaking the law (by violating campaign-finance laws) to conceal an affair not impeachable?

If “cheating the electoral system” (by means of a burglary) was impeachable, why is cheating the electoral system (by means of illicit hush money) not impeachable?

If cheating “our institutions” (by means of an “assault” in “every way” on the legal system) is impeachable, why is cheating those institutions (by means of nonstop presidential mendacity and relentless attacks on the Justice Department and the F.B.I.) not impeachable?

Trump also blatantly tried to block a federal investigation. That’s obstruction of justice.

You mean pass stuff that would be vetoed because the President is Republican, or pass things because the President is Republican which means no repercussions for passing them since it would never be signed.

Remember how the Republicans tried to repeal and replace Obamacare when Obama was in office. They did it to put on a show for their base, but also because they knew it wouldn't get passed. Once they got control of Congress and the Executive branch, suddenly they became quite shy about repeal and replace. They knew it was all on them if their glorious plan backfired.

Not phony bills to fire up the base. Real bills that they would enact and sign given the chance.

Disagreeing with "intelligence" agencies is impeachable? Who is in control of the country in your view or should be in control, the president or the alphabet agencies? I thought president was.

I don't think Clinton should have been impeached for lying about infidelity and neither should Trump.

Hush money? Are you talking about Stormy Daniels?

How is he assaulting our legal system? It seems the FBI's and Justice Dept's refusal to turn over the documents that probably implicate these agencies in illegal spying on a potential president is where the crime lies.

How did he try and block the investigation?

Off the top of my head:

1) Government will grind to halt.
2) Partisan divisions will be exacerbated.
3) It will feed the Trump-as-victim narrative.
4) Pence is his successor. Pence is toxic. Pence is Trump sans Twitter.
5) House might impeach but Senate will never vote to remove.
6) Rancor.
7) Trump might feel like he needs to cooperate with Democrats, to cement his legacy. Impeachment would stop that.
8) And, we elected Trump. We deserve him. Let him fulfill whatever nasty promise he has. A shortened presidency will always be seen as "but he wasn't really given a chance."
