The American Navy could use coal burners to generate the steam. I’m sorry to say that The Donald is making America a global laughing stock (whilst he personally syphons off billions by whatever means possible).Chap wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2026 5:50 pmThis is unbelievable.
Some time last year we had a good laugh on this board about Trump's idiotic statement that electromagnetic launch systems on aircraft carriers were a lousy idea, because he thought magnets would not work if they got water on them. Remember? When we heard no more, I assume that somebody had distracted him from this ignorant little episode.
The Chinese noticed, however since news was circulated about Xi Jinping visiting a new Chinese carrier with an electromagnetic launch system. And they are building more.
Now I see that this recently appeared in the Guardian:

White House releases Trump's order to install steam catapults on new US aircraft carrier
The White House has released the full text of a memorandum from Donald Trump to Pete Hegseth, the defense secretary, ordering a change in the construction of a new US Navy aircraft carrier, to replace the electromagnetic aircraft launch system with steam catapults.
The supposed superiority of steam catapults for launching fighter jets has been an obsession of the president’s since 2017 when, he says, he was convinced by a single conversation with a Navy officer that the electromagnetic system installed in modern aircraft carriers was too complex.
The presidential memorandum, titled, “Rebuilding the United States Navy and America’s Shipbuilding Industrial Base”, claims to address “a series of shipbuilding setbacks stemming from overly complex designs” for US Navy ships.
Section 2 of the memo includes the order to change the construction of the USS Doris Miller, a Ford-class aircraft carrier known as CVN-81, which is already two years behind schedule:
Sec. 2. Restoring Steam and Hydraulic Systems to Carriers. Within 60 days of the date of this memorandum, the Secretary of War, in consultation with the Secretary of the Navy, shall provide to the President, through the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs (APNSA), a plan on the required measures to replace the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System and Advanced Weapons Elevators with steam and hydraulic systems for the construction of CVN-81, including timelines and resourcing requirements.

Also Nancy Pelosi had to report assets and notable transactions her husband working in the financial industry made, whether or not she gave him input. Trump has made money from things that he directly controlled and could influence government policy about.

The way the conflict with Iran is going, they will end up with a significantly more favourable deal than they had before, and America will have achieved nothing that wasn’t already in place before Trump had his brain fart. Operation Epic Fail.

I haven't eaten at McDonalds at all in a couple years, and probably a handful of times in the last five. I'll let the fascists of the forum chow down on their 300,000 pounds of tariff-free mystery meat on the way in. I wonder if inspectors of that beef will face being fired if they don't rubber stamp the incoming "beef" as top quality? If problems are found and exposed, will they arrest random people for it like they did for the reflecting pool because nobody can take an ounce of responsibility? But wouldn't it be like what you guys do with everything else: take a bite of racoon, horse, and deer and say it's the best meat you've ever had? "Real men wear diapers" "Real men eat Racoon"? no diff right?
I realize you can't fully trust labels, but I stick to certified organic beef in the last few years. I eat out less and less as quality/price has fallen dramatically. I can make 6 1/3 pound burgers for my lunches for drastically cheaper than I can get from any restaurant and they are better in every way. In & Out is technically still pretty good, but they've shrunk substantially and they weren't big to begin with. Carl's is good, but the price has gone through the ceiling.
If fascism continues, then my 80% reduction in eating out might move to 100%.

There's nothing real about Trump except fakeness.
And yeah, restaurants were never a great value, and these days it's just not worth it at all, especially fast "food."

Sunday evening Trump posted an AI slop video showing massive explosions with the caption: "Kharg Island being blown to smithereens!!! President DJT. He either believes that the AI slop is real, or he believes his base will believe it’s real.
We have a problem that’s beyond any acceptable level of tolerance we can accept from a sitting president. He needs to be 25th’d immediately.

Besides making himself look like a deranged lunatic, which he is, isn't he putting our service members at risk? If so...color me pissed.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2026 1:31 pmSunday evening Trump posted an AI slop video showing massive explosions with the caption: "Kharg Island being blown to smithereens!!! ETA: Forgot to say, we didn't hit Kharg Island. That's a total fake (news) out. Trouble is, a good bit of the public will take it as gospel.

After five weeks off, Mike Johnson’s House will have spent fewer days actually in session than almost any modern Congress, effectively giving itself a record amount of time off. Why do I post this? He’s reportedly closing the House through midterm elections.
I’ll note these are the same people who say workers don’t want to work anymore, that workers have too much time off, and that they want to run the government like a business.
Hey MAGA board members, if WalMart were only open for business for 105 days in the span of 10+ months, would that business be successful?
