Yeah, but why would you do that, because you just want to take a strange PC turn in the franchise? We need a girl, and make her the ultimate badass compared to all previous badasses. She's in god mode. How? Midichlorians, or something. Again, lazy writing. It's not just Rei. She's only one problem among hundreds. Another death star, etc. No putting lipstick on this pig.
I don't know why people have a hard time admitting it was bad writing. It was corporate appeal to the masses "cha-ching" amusement park garbage. Sure, nice graphics (the token compliment). Sure, it was mildly fun seeing Han Solo back on the screen, I guess, if you were born in the 50's and that's a real big deal to you. Hey look, Harrison Ford is back on camera and needs to buy 20 new boats! The band is back together for one last tour! Playing the same songs, but with new lighting effects! If that's what you're into, great movie, if you actually care about the story line, insulting.

That's not a strained patch over a well known issue with the plotting or anything. If you are allowing dubious ad hoc fixes not present in the films themselves, then assume some of those for Rey and call it good.
Also keep in mind, this was the first movie and nobody expected it to really take off like it did.
That was the second movie. That's not a small thing to get wrong. I was referring to Luke's triumph at the end of A New Hope. It's about as rushed as Rey, but works a little better in feel because the editing is so good.
What we also know is he left sooner than Yoda wanted him to. And it's an important point - yoda didn't think he was ready. However sloppily, the movie made a point of showing Luke had no skills and needed to develop them. It was a central point in the film. And when fighting with Vader, Vader was not trying to kill him. He knew he was his son and was trying to convert him. Vader wasn't giving him full force. Like a dad wrestling with his baby boy.
The Force Awakens goes to some lengths to show Kylo Ren badly wounded and toying with the heroes only to be caught off guard. That's how it tries to give balance to the conflict it presents. If you think that's not enough, sure, but then you can't turn around and contrast it with similar plotting that you misremembered.

Rey is awesome. Fer cereal.
1) Within hours of learning about the Force she has Jedi mind control powers.
2) She touches a light saber and manages to defeat an enemy who was trained by the best Light and Dark force users in the Galaxy, a man who destroyed the new Jedi order, and has had YEARS of force use under his belt. She “F” ed his crap up!
3) No one can find Luke Skywalker. Not the entire Resistance. Not the New Siths on the Block. But Rey can!
[Click-and-drag to read:] 4) Rey has the best telekinesis. Luke and Darth? DREAM ON BOYS. Rey is SO POWERFUL.
5) Did you know Rey can swim perfectly? Pretty cool for a GIRL WHO GREW UP ON A DESERT PLANET.
6) She can totally fly the Millennial Falconz better than Han (“F” in' Nazi ass name White cracker ass cracker) Solo.
7) She overcame bad genes, too! Parents were addicts who ditched for more booze. Must be something special about her...

It never really bothered me that Rey was able to get the better of Kylo in the light saber dual. Kylo had just been shot with Chewies bow caster, and they made a point to show how over powered that weapon was. The fact that Kylo was still standing shows how powerful he is, and most of his energy was focused on not bleeding out.
The rest? Well she is just super awesome I guess. Must have something to do with living on a planet with way too much sand.
Possible spoiler:
TLJ really does a number on preconceived notions. This is not the Luke you are looking for. He really has no "F"s to give. And was literally going to burn the entire Jedi thing to the ground.

A List of Some of the Times TLJ Told the Other Star Wars Movies to Eat S***
But my favorite one is from the comments:
When the plucky band of misfits with tiny, beaten-up s***mobiles can’t actually defeat the vastly superior technology of their evil foes and have to, like, sneak out the back.
Also, what Rey did at the end of TFA was no more preposterous than what Poe Dameron did in the first 5 minutes of TLJ. Wonder when the man-o-sphere will get around to raging about that.

Re: The Last Jedi ***NO SPOILERS, GODDAMN IT!!***
I can't tell if we're supposed to be spoilers free in this thread about discussing a movie yet. These are strange rules.
In any case, in a spoiler free way I think the film deliberately tries to take expectations of what the movie should be about and turn them on its head. I'm fine with that in theory, but I think it botches the execution more often than not. I think the film works as its own episodic thing, but as part of a bigger story it's not good. A big part of the overall narrative failing seems to be a consequence of the need to do this. There are so many examples of the film spinning its wheels because it has to un-Star Wars itself.
