Thank you for the fact check. I shouldn't be surprised, the things people just believe and then rant about without checking is astonishing. Making mistakes is one thing, but this systematic belief in noncredible sources is be coming an epidemic.
Marcus,

So that you can continue to not think for yourself, you should also be told that it has been determined that Kimmel did not lie in his monologue.

You're safe here.
As a Christian, do you think that’s how Jesus would have spoken to Marcus?
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

That is exactly how Shelly Pennefather would say it.

Nevermind. After finally finding what came before Oberman's texts, it is 100% crystal clear that the subject they were discussing was not the Kirk assassination, but the suspension and reinstatement of Kimmel. This is yet another lie, in my opinion maliciously perpetrated by Jennings, to throw more gasoline on the fire. He should be reprimanded for making a false report to the FBI. (I won't hold my breath.)

Not an Olberman fan, but this malicious escalation needs to be called out.

Do you ever not project your own problems?

damned pathetic.

Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense. It's also the favored cover for hypocrites.

Shelly Pennefather would not have said that. But I am sure she could kick your yellow ass.

Watching Ceeboo become radicalized is interesting.

Oh, another thing when I was raptured ‘up’ to heaven, the pad Thai was exquisite, though I suspected the eggs were made from tofu. I don’t think they eat meat there. Yeah. So, golf, NFL, gold MAHA hats, apartments, and lots of talking about Jesus.

Look, we have all seen on this board over the years examples of what I tend to call a "bad faith" reading of other people's words. Language has an inherent ambiguity that can be exploited to twist someone's words beyond the obvious intended meaning. Others have described it as "twisting my words" or "putting words in my mouth." We've all seen it because it's so easy to do -- just use a little creativity to place the worst possible interpretation on the words.

That's what's going on here. One has to twist Kimmel's words almost beyond recognition in order to claim that he said that a MAGA shot Kirk. Out of context, Olberman's words are ambiguous. The question "next for what?" can be answered only by looking at the tweets that preceded Olberman's. When Scott Jennings tweeted that Olberman had threatened his life, guess what he left out? He left out the chain of comments that preceded Olberman's. In context, there is no ambiguity at all.

Acting in good faith requires giving others' words the maximally generous interpretation. Otherwise, we're just exploiting the ambiguities of language and pretending that it reflects something about the speaker. We are now in an extremely dangerous time in which both sides of the political divide are presuming that the other side is evil, setting us up to accept without thinking the bad faith spin that politicians, influencers and other bad faith actors are maliciously putting on the speech of others.

If you are getting information from someone on your side of the divide that leaves you angry or afraid, stop reading or listening. Take a breath. Touch grass. And when you feel calm, ask yourself whether the factual claims being made are true. Discard the spin that is making you emotional and go on a good faith search for truth. And if you discover that the sources you rely on are giving you rage bait rather than facts, find new sources.

Politicians and rich guys are making half of American enraged at the other half. So they can make big bucks. Don't be goaded by rage bait.

Isn't Jesus everywhere there? Does he bow in and out of the scene?

Seems weird everyone would be talking about Jesus behind his back in heaven.

Now that I think about it, it's weird we do it here. I need to talk more about Darth Vader to give the various influential characters equal time.

You know, I didn’t actually see Jesus one single time. I saw God, so maybe the Trinity is real and Jesus was absorbed back into God? I also heard a bunch of people wondering if Jesus’ liberal doctrines pissed God off, so he may actually be in purgatory. That’s what the scuttlebutt on the links was, anyway.
