On the same day that President Donald Trump ordered a temporary halt on some green cards, his second son promoted Trump-branded "quarantine wine" on social media
.
Though he initially vowed to "temporarily suspend" all immigration to the country, the president ultimately signed a more limited order. The ban did not suspend the visas for agricultural workers from which Trump Vineyards benefits.
"The team at @TrumpWinery has you covered if your quarantine wine supply is running low! Check us out," Eric Trump wrote on Twitter. His tweet featured a bottle of Trump rosé in front of a bouquet of roses.
According to its 2017 visa application, Trump Vineyards, which the president owns, pays legal migrant laborers $0.15 per vine pruned under H2-A visas granted annually by his own administration.
Several of the president's businesses have closed since shutdowns began in earnest last month, and his private company, the Trump Organization, even asked his own administration for a break on rent payments to its Washington hotel amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Trump Vineyards is eligible to access a $9.5 billion agricultural federal relief fund during the pandemic, which has a carveout for grapes, though the company told the Associated Press that it did not plan to apply.
Neither the Trump Org. nor Trump Winery immediately replied to Salon's requests for comment.

Must feed red meat ... to the Base!
Somebody’s worried that a shortage of frozen burger patties at Wal-Mart will make him look bad when his voters are trying to load up for those July 4th parties. ; )President Trump is expected to sign an executive order Tuesday mandating that meat production plants remain open to head off a food supply shortage, according to one person familiar with the coming action, despite mounting reports of plant worker deaths due to covid.
Trump will invoke the Defense Production Act under the order, which will classify the meat production plants as essential infrastructure that must remain open, said the person, who was not authorized to disclose details of the order. The government will provide additional protective gear for employees as well as guidance, according to the person. Trump is expected to sign the order as early as today

The meat processing plants are being given liability protection if their workers die as a result of their unsafe working conditions.
Can't use DPA to force businesses to make life-saving medical equipment, but can force them to stay open and pressure workers to endure potentially deadly working conditions so the supply of cheap ground beef doesn't dry up. What are people gonna eat? Plants? Don't make me laugh.

The Administration probably put a 26-year-old loyalist Liberty College intern in charge of this one. : D
An apparent attempt to invade Venezuela involving several Americans remained shrouded in confusion Tuesday as the two countries traded accusations but offered little new information about the mysterious mission.
Venezuela’s foreign minister said two Americans, both former U.S. Special Operations soldiers, were “confessing without any reservations” after being arrested by security forces during the aborted invasion. He did not describe what the men had told authorities about the operation, which President Nicolás Maduro described as an assassination plot.
President Trump denied any U.S. involvement in the incident, saying that “it has nothing to do with our government.”
The State Department said that it could not comment on the reported arrests, citing privacy considerations, but added that “there is a major disinformation campaign underway by the Maduro regime, making it difficult to separate facts from propaganda.”
The two men were captured, along with six others, on Monday when the small boat they were traveling in attempted to land along Venezuela’s coastline, only to be met by Venezuelan military and police forces. On Sunday, eight others, apparently Venezuelans, were killed and two were captured in a separate landing attempt, according to Venezuelan reports.
The incident added to more than a year of growing tensions as the Trump administration, accusing Maduro of human rights abuses, corruption and narcotics trafficking, has tried to force him from office with economic sanctions and criminal indictments.
A U.S. Army spokesman, Lt. Col. Emmanuel Ortiz, said service records confirm that the two captured Americans, Airan Berry and Luke Denman, are Special Forces veterans, as is Jordan Goudreau, the head of a Florida security services company who first announced the operation in a video Sunday morning.
Goudreau, in an interview with The Washington Post, said Berry and Denman were “supervisors” of a force he said numbered about 60 Venezuelans. Most, if not all of them, were believed to be military and police defectors living in camps in Colombia, near the Venezuelan border.
Juan Guaidó, the Venezuelan legislator and opposition leader recognized as interim president by the United States and more than 50 other countries, lashed out Tuesday at Maduro for staging what he called a “massacre.”
“They knew about this and were waiting to massacre them,” Guaidó said in a virtual session of the opposition-controlled National Assembly. “Nicolás Maduro, you are responsible. The regime knew about that operation, you infiltrated it and waited to massacre them.”
The CIA declined to comment.

The DoJ has quashed Flynn's case. Seems almost passe' to point out the rule of law in America is dying, so I think it's worth pointing out that the Democrats sclerotic leadership that did almost nothing in response to the previous attacks on rule law enabled this moment.

Late Friday, Trump fired the State Department's Inspector General, and evidently because he was investigating Pompeo. NPR reports he was "looking into the Secretary's misuse of a political appointee at the Department to perform personal tasks for himself and Mrs. Pompeo."
