Maybe Ginsburg shouldve retired at 80 during Obama's 2nd term for a slam dunk appointment. But alas, the gamble for handing Hillary Clinton an opportunity to appoint failed...and you don't get a reward for that loss.
Certainly no one would have faulted Ruth Bader Ginsburg for choosing to retire at that time, after so many years of honorable service. And I can't deny that the Democrats would probably not be facing the current dilemma (at least, not to the same degree) if she had.
But I don't think McConnell would have been any less determined to find some pretext for denying Obama an opportunity to appoint a new Justice.
Perhaps, but the nature of the system is that when the parties involved are adversarial then negotiation is required...Obama never even bothered to make another nomination(s) that possibly could have met Senate approval. Alas, this is a good system, and even though the parties involved are seemingly less adversarial today, the Senate will approve or disapprove according to their own wishes and not Trump's. Regardless of the fantasy, the reality is that the party and the Senate are not beholden to President.
Nevertheless, its Trump's right to nominate and the Senate's right to vote at anytime in accordance with the Constitution.

Cindy McCain has endorsed Joe Biden. Trump's tweet:
I hardly know Cindy McCain other than having put her on a Committee at her husband’s request. Joe Biden was John McCain’s lapdog. So many BAD decisions on Endless Wars & the V.A., which I brought from a horror show to HIGH APPROVAL. Never a fan of John. Cindy can have Sleepy Joe!
According to the GOP, Joe Biden has a lot of range. Not only is he the puppet of the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez/Venezuelan-Socialist wing of the Democrats, he was ALSO the lapdog of John McCain. Not easy to be both.

I think the both of them are lapdogs to their donors, donors who donate to guaranty their wealth is increased at the expense of the rest of us. Over the past 40 years or so, incomes and wealth have become increasingly concentrated in the monopolist or oligopolist class. All the while both parties become increasingly in agreement in what matters to the billionaires who support both parties. Trump is a loudmouth but Biden is more of the same. We need a third party movement, more transparency in campaign donations and fighters who will go and break up the monopolies that are increasingly strangling us. Bezos has made a killing during the pandemic and so has Walmart and congress was unanimous on the first bailout that took care of the donor class, yet are very slow on taking care of the rest of us.

To be clear, the point I was making is that Republicans are accusing Biden of being aligned simultaneously with Venezuelan Socialists and a Republican War Veteran. A bit of a reach.
One of the things I've read about Biden is that he absolutely HATES the 'schmoozing the donor' part of politics. His disdain actually worked against him in previous campaigns. Disdain for schmoozing doesn't mean that he hasn't been ideologically corrupted. We may need a 3rd party movement. But I would remind you of the difference Ralph Nader made in Florida in the year 2000. In brief, Nader votes were indirectly responsible for the War with Iraq. When it comes time to cast your vote, you play the hand you're dealt, not the hand you want.
Perhaps I put too much faith in the image below. Joe Biden, captured on a security camera. He had no idea he was being filmed. He stopped to help a homeless man on the street. That gives me hope.

Infect infect 60 to 70 percent of the American populace with covid-19 to achieve herd immunity. Never mind that this will cause 2 million or more additional deaths!
I'll take 2 million deaths over 50% unemployment any time.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.
Anyone watching the debate tonight? I'll be watching it on the replay later. Would love to see you guys' comments on it!
I’m usually a political junkie, but I’m gonna pass. As with everything he touches, Trump will make a farce out of the debate. I don’t need to boost the ratings.
