My 3 sons would be surprised, because just a couple of weeks ago we went to the gun range and shot some toys for which my oldest owned the most of, and it was irritating because the BIG toys were loud as heck because for some weird reason they didn't put sound insulation between the stations.

If only there were some kind of PPE that responsible gun owners commonly use at ranges, that could have alleviated that problem.

You see, when I read what you wrote above all I think about is my family, my wife and girls. My wife is 5'2" 120lbs and my grown daughter's are even smaller. In the America you describe, how do they protect against violent men who are 6'0" 200lbs? What's your solution? Because right now a gun is the best option for a woman when it comes to protection.

See, they’re much more likely to be harmed in a motor vehicle incident, yet I doubt they avoid driving for that reason.

You’re assuming the risk stays the same in a country with guns and ones without.

It’s logical to think that robbers and muggers take into account the probability that a home or person is armed before attempting a crime.

This isn't a "hard thing" - This is an impossible thing. Rather than remaining firmly in the land of fantasy (which is what you're doing with this suggestion) you are much better off using your voice and placing your efforts in something that is possible - Like some flavor of gun reform or some such thing.

In the USA, the rate is 4.96. Is the much higher level of homicide in the US a good reason for Americans feeling the need to hold guns whereas most Europeans don't feel the need - or is the higher level of US homicides a consequence of the comparatively large number of guns, legal and illegal, present in US homes and ready to hand when tempers get frayed?
