But, it doesn't matter. She's African. Or Irish. Or whatever. “F” it. Since I'm 3% Norwegian I'm just going to lay claim to being Pacific Islander because I'm transracial. Or not. Race doesn't exist, obviously. Or it does. Who knows? It's so complicated, really. Why are we even talking about this? damned evil Republicans made fun of her for claiming to be Cherokee, or whatever. Racists.

She claimed her family had Cherokee and Delaware ancestry according to various news outlets reporting on the story from, I think, 2012?

You always seemed a little Polynesian to me.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

I don’t follow news about Warren closely enough to know if she had claimed Cherokee as confirmed by any method versus just ‘best assumption’.
Personally I would not prefer to see her as a candidate in 2020, either. But this whole brouhaha did just confirm, again, that Trump has no character. And that Dog sure does get worked up over her. ; )

I'd take Warren 20x over if it meant not getting Trump for another term. He's just... Well, it's all been said at this point. I can't even listen to the man talk (and I thought listening to GWB was an exercise in masochism).

She's not claiming to be a member of the Cherokee tribe. She explicitly disavows that. Yet the response statement acts as though Warren is claiming the DNA test determines tribal citizenship. It's right there in the first sentence.

Rekt, though.
Once again we're treated to EA's bizarro universe where someone in his prefrontal cortex said something and then he argues with himself. It's damned pathological.

Let's see. Water Dog posts a response from the Cherokee Nation Secretary of State criticizing Warren for claiming a connection to tribal citizenship in the Cherokee Nation. Warren didn't do that. Canpakes asks, "Is Warren claiming to be Cherokee?" in direct response to that. You say, "Well yeah," then talk about her claiming ancestry related to the Cherokee." So I then point out that she isn't claiming tribal citizenship at this time as the quote in Water Dog's post that canpakes is responding to implies. She disavowed that. Either you missed this context or you confuse Cherokee ancestry with connection to a tribe. (I'm guessing you missed the context of my reply.)
Then you rage and swear at me because you can't follow a conversation.
Quasimodo wrote:Since tribal affiliation is not possible to prove with DNA, does it even matter? Native American DNA is quite provable. Warren does show positive for NA ancestry. That should be enough. She does have that ancestry. That's quite enough enough.
Not "quite enough" to claim oneself as being Indian a.k.a. as being of Native American.
