All this talk of war and invasion is idiotic. They present no threat. None of them are even armed. Their intentions are not hostile. The military isn't needed. Trump wants us to think this by conflating them with middle-easterners and MS13.
Yes, clearly as evidenced by those who crossed into Mexico illegally and those who tore fences down in Guatemala...clearly and legally is soooo obvious. but you are correct, collectively it is difficult if the intention is to "sneak"...but it would seem that their intention is to "bum rush".

Hondurans have been going to Mexico easily for quite some time now. They didn't "rush" the fence and overpower the cops, they simply climbed the fences and the patrol realized it was a waste of time trying to stop them because there were too many to detain. You're a damned moron if you believe those are their intentions once they reach the US border.
Do you know what would make America great again? To see thousands of US citizens going to the border to meet this caravan of migrants. We already know the outcome. They'll be turned away for sure. But they deserve our respect for walking more than 1,200 miles on foot in the hopes of obtaining a better life for themselves and their families. I wish someone would organize a campaign to help raise funds to provide food and supplies for their journey back. I'd donate and I'd probably make the trip to the border as well. What a glorious moment that would be to see so many of us stand for human rights, in direct protest to Trump's horrible administration.
And people like subs and ajax will sit at home and watch it on TV, and wonder... "Hey, so that's what it means to act like a human being!"

Because strafing a column of migrants at your border with gunfire from aircraft would make for such excellent optics. ; )
I was a little troubled with this choice of word, strafing. It may have broader meaning but for me its meaning is created by many movies where strafing creates a couple of columns of spaced bullets and people on the road jump into a ditch, mostly safe. An A-10 would be very very different. It can l put out 70 30mm rounds a second. That would result in mass murder, a crime against humanity not just poor optics. Now to be fair Water Dog pulled back on the suggestion after a moment of pleasure imagining the taste of blood.
The irony is these people are just looking for jobs. Jobs that don't exist in their country because the economies have been recked by leftists despite the abundance of natural resources.
I was actually stunned by this bizarre statement. I am glad Kevin has pointed out that the government Honduras and Guatemala are not leftest. I have just enough awareness of the problems there to know I am no expert. I am daunted by the complexities. Brutal civil war and murderously repressive governments have contributed. It is a significant consideration that there is long term history of US military interventions to protect American fruit companies ability to draw the profits out of those countries leaving them poor.
Honduras is incredibly capitalist, libertarian right wing. Has corporate ran industrial development zones now. ZEDEs ..... Mostly without federal intervention. And the murder rate keeps climbing. Infrastructure is falling apart. The John Galt experiment there is failing.
Dog is clueless.

And yes, by YOU PEOPLE I'm referring to whiney Republicans who are afraid of their own shadow because it isn't white.
Kevin, its clear you are mostly an intolerant person, and I am willing to admit that some people express their fear, concern, or dislike for illegal immigration in terms of racism....but such broad condemnations are often the result of ignorance or emotion...or both.
So, while you continue to go to the dry well of racism with your over-sized pail - consider that this issue may well be founded on something else. Now forgive the economy of scale here, but imagine that every week or so a group of illegal immigrants wanted to use your yard to get to a house behind you. They don't really mess with your belongings or property, but occasionally your yard gets worn or the dog barks late at night...no big deal, its just you property is the most convenient route....now imagine that a small group of immigrants arrived at your house. They did not want to live in your house, but rather just in your yard...and let us just imagine that is only 5 people. And most of them wanted to work for that privilege; and for some cash. They would pick up that dog poo you don't like picking up; they would clean your gutters; take your garbage out; and even watch over your house when you take vacations. Mostly completing all those menial tasks that take valuable time away from your more fruitful pursuits. But 1 of them also expect you to modify your lifestyle to accommodate them...learn a little of their language, get them medical care when needed, call a lawyer for them, etc. Nothing you can't accomplish on your way to Best Buy....and heck, you were able to pick up a second job because of your new free time, which helps pay for the yard residents that are now cleaning your pool because your neighbor is too stuck up to clean it for you.
So, why are you adverse to such an arrangement? What makes your front yard any different than the property owners in Texas or Arizona...or any different than the legal residents of America?
I am curious how you extrapolate personal responsibility in this imaginary scenario and the very real national circumstance. I get an idea that the imaginary scenario i describe is really just happening at your neighbor's house and while he complains you sit at your side of the fence yelling at him; calling him racist; and confused at why he won't just let those people live on his lawn.
BUMP for KG's blatant NIMBY policy.

The most socialized country in the Western Hemisphere is the Central American Republic of Guatemala. It is also one of the few Latin American republics (according to New York Timesman W. H. Lawrence—TIME, Jan. 13) without a formal Communist party. Guatemala's socialism started by accident of war. Today one-third of its agricultural produce is grown on land operated by the Government. The land—comprising one-fourth of the country's best plantations—fell under state control when the Government expropriated the German plantations in 1944.
No worries, a few years later they formed their Communist Party, and it lasted until 1998. Central and South America over the past one hundred years is a story of failed socialism, various opportunistic dictators, drug cartels, etc. I don't have a clue how the current supposed government would be classified in terms of the definitions of production and whatnot, etc. Do they even know? Those technicalities are quite beside the point. Can such labels be applied to completely broken systems with no consistency whatsoever that change every other year? One of the annoying things about talking with leftists is that nothing is leftist. They never acknowledge left wing thinking to be the root naïve causes behind so many dysfunctional systems. Whether Guatemala or Horduras is technically left wing right now today, or whether it simply has never recovered from the left wing scourge that left the place in ruins and ruled until less than a generation ago, what's the difference?
“We are a generous and welcoming people here in the United States,” but those who enter the country illegally and those who employ them disrespect the rule of law and they are showing disregard for those following the law.”
“We simply cannot allow people to pour into the U.S., undetected, undocumented, unchecked and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently, lawfully to become immigrants in this country” - president B. Obama

It's worth listening to Pence's full remarks. All predictable stuff. Full details yet to be unearthed, but it's common sense. I have a feeling the particulars will come out. I never cease to be amused by all this. Russian Hackers imposed Trump in 2016. Lefties believe this. But the idea that someone would organize a "caravan" is beyond comprehension? Never heard of Black Lives Matter, or antifa, blocking highways in AZ, blocking roads in Oregon, Pussy Marches, accosting Jeff Flake in a elevator, among a million other things? Give me a break.
