I don't remember not being able to speak English. I could read and do math before I went to elementary school. I learned a lot from older siblings when I was young (still do, really). If my family agrees on nothing else, we value education. We all have degrees.
And you had many brothers and sisters so your parents probably had less time to teach you. But it seems like you're very accomplished in your career.
On that note, take care if you decide to do a little jogging around the neighborhood while pondering what sort of confused post you’ll next leave behind here.
Most of working people can't go jogging in the ghetto neighborhoods. In the ghetto town I went to optometry school my wife couldn't even get a tank of gas without 5 or 6 bums in her face. I've definitely seen what it's like to live in a city where the police have their hands tied and only look for cases that might generate revenue for the department like tickets or drug forfeiture. Anything else they turn their heads and look the other way and I can see why.
