Please make your case as to why the 2024 Republican Vice-Presidential candidate, JD Vance, wearing eyeliner "is considerably less weird" than what the person holding the sub-cabinet post of Assistant Secretary for Health, Rachel Levine, is doing. (I guess the question is, first of all, what is it that you think she's doing?)
Edit: To be clear, personally I think it's outstanding if Vance, or any other man, wears eyeliner. It pushes no buttons for me. I think the smokey-eye look is very compelling. But then, a guy presenting as a man who wants to wear a dress doesn't bother me, either. Why would I care?

They're both biological men, and they're both doing things that are "conventionally feminine." It looks a bit odd to most people. The eyeliner looks less odd than what Rachel Levine has done to their appearance. They both look a bit "weird," if we're judging them compared to traditional gender stereotypes.

I think the reason that Vance is criticized for eyeliner is that he's perceived as having views that are somewhat hostile to the violation of traditional gender norms--so when he bends said norms, he comes across as hopelessly hypocritical.
I doubt if Levine comes across as somewhat hostile to the violation of traditional gender norms. So maybe they shouldn't be treated the same in this.

Love the word, although it seems to be going out of usage, except maybe in England. I heard it recently used by a broadcaster in the UK. Rarely do I hear it here.

I love how the GOP bobbleheads are trying to call all things Democrat weird. Talk about a marked lack of self-awareness.
Democrats calling Vance weird works because, well, everyone can see he's nutty. The GOP calling all things "woke" weird is tired, old, and desperate sounding. The Trump campaign's current strategy seems to be desperately splashing around so they don't drown, made difficult because Vance is chained to their feet.
