I think Conservatives struggle to decouple “your behavior made you more likely to be victimized” from “you are morally responsible for the crimes perpetrated against you, and thus the perp is less responsible” when it comes to authority in the role as the offender. In other words, if the victim of police malfeasance was doing something wrong, whether it’s having drugs shoved up their ass and they’re passing counterfeit bills or breaking the rules of parole, Conservatives can’t seem to grasp that authority has to be institutionally held to ‘law abider’ while simultaneously enforcing the law.

It’s a perfectly rational position to expect LEOs to not only follow departmental policy every single day in every single instance, because policy is generally derived from the law, but also to abide by a higher moral code because they’re charged with protecting us, sometimes when we’re not protecting ourselves. No one argues the job of a LEO, or Peace Officer, or whatever title you want to give them is easy. It’s extraordinarily difficult in every sense of the word. But because these men and women are authorized by the state to use force on behalf of the state, they must be held to a rational standard that doesn’t excuse irrational behavior on their part.

This is why Chauvin is on trial. Anyone with eyeballs could see that Chauvin used irrational force on an already subdued or incapacitated subject. He must be charged, and a trial must be held because to do otherwise would guarantee a government that could use force against its own citizens without consequence is a government not for the people by the people. That’s tyranny.

When you visit many-a-Conservative discussion forum you’ll note quite often how many people simply don’t grasp this concept, or want to do away with it in favor of a highly autocratic government that can use force with virtually no oversight. It’s a deeply antithetical system to a democracy that we’re trying to hold together. The Xanaxes of this world have no concept of our democratic systems, or worse, want to do away with them. That’s why they viewed the insurrection as a good thing, because a democratic system attempts to keep the balance of power in the people’s hands, which doesn’t always favor the privileged. This disrupts the hierarchy and causes mental anguish for a lot of people who enjoy their status without understanding how they landed that status.

Whatever the case may be, a cop should get off a perp’s neck and back when they, you know, pass out. They should be rolled over and receive some sort of, I dunno, CPR to restore breathing. It doesn’t matter that the perp took drugs, or had a heart condition. If the LEO takes a citizen, even a crappy citizen, to the ground, and the citizen passes out, then the cop becomes morally responsible to at least save the citizen’s life right in that moment. The cop is an agent of the state, and we can’t have the state acting negligently toward its citizens. If we allow that then it’s only a matter of time before that behavior creeps up the hierarchy and the Xanaxes of the world are getting pistol whipped over a traffic stop if they forgot their wallet at home.

But, like SS points out over and over again, most Conservatives are too retarded to understand that until the moment they’re pistol whipped. By then it’s too late.

Watch this: Defense witnesses in Chauvin case devastatingly dismantled and humiliated by prosecution's cross examination. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmqJrlmFPYk.
In stark contrast to the medical witnesses heard from the prosecution, Dr. Fowler testified that the cause of George Floyd’s death was everything but Chauvin. But Joy says the entire testimony ‘imploded’ once the prosecution picked apart his findings during cross examination. Fowler conceded multiple points, including that a lack of bruising and other injuries do not prove that Floyd did not die of asphyxia and that the weight of Chauvin's gear was not factored into his calculation of the force applied to Floyd's neck.
It would actually be laughable if this whole affair was not so tragic. As Phillip, one of the commentators interviewed pointed out, some of the defense's arguments (specifically the suggestion that CO emissions from a nearby police car tailpipe might have contributed to Floyd's death) were almost as silly as saying, "You know, there is no real evidence that Aliens didn't kill him!"

Excellent, Doc! I don't see how it could have been better stated!

The irony with the left is that they usually want more laws, more regulations, and more government. What they forget is that ultimately these laws are all enforced at the point of a gun. Or more likely they only want to enforce laws against conservatives in violent fashion.
If we allow that then it’s only a matter of time before that behavior creeps up the hierarchy and the Xanaxes of the world are getting pistol whipped over a traffic stop if they forgot their wallet at home.
I'm sure that already happens but you wouldn't know that from watching CNN. Nor does anyone care if you're white. We don't use these incidents as opportunities to loot towns and block traffic. Nor does one white person give a rip about another white person.

And do you remember that police officer in Wisconsin who shot an "unarmed" black man named Jacob Blake? The video went viral and he was convicted in the liberal media. Candidate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris reached out to Jacob Blake letting him know he was the victim and in the right. NBA players wore Blake's name on their jersey saying any one of them could be next. It turns out that Officer Rusten Sheskey is back on the job, not because he wasn't investigated but because he didn't do anything wrong. What I find sad is that our job market sucks so bad that this is apparently the best job available to him. I can't believe he went back. Being called out to deal with people like Jacob Blake and then having the mainstream media lynch mob, Facebook, and top level politicians seeking to put you away for it for life is not worth what they're paid, not even close. I can't believe Rusten is going back to do that job.

Intellectually incurious doctor who doesn't care that a man was tortured to death in broad daylight on camera.

I knew exactly which witness you were referring to in the first line without even reading the rest of your post. The prosecution took apart his testimony piece by piece. In several instances, he didn't remember details of the case so the prosecution put up slides etc., to remind him. The white substance in Mr. Floyd's mouth and Chauvin choking Mr. Floyd inside the squad car.

As you mentioned the emissions from the squad car and not knowing if the vehicle was running or not. Talking about how they would have kept Mr. Floyd in the prone position instead of putting him in the recovery position (on his side) on account of his body taking up too much space on a busy road--the prosecution demonstrated with photographic images that when Mr. Floyd was removed from the car, he WAS in the recovery position to start with.

Chauvin is for sure going to prison. That I have no doubt. I wonder where he’ll be placed because if anyone is going to get murdered in prison it’s that guy. I don’t think he makes it past a year or two if he’s in general population, or whatever it’s called where they mingle with other prisoners.

I think you're right. But I think it's likely to be a hung jury. It's hard to get 12 people to unanimously convict or acquit. Either way there will be rioting and looting by the left.

The murder rate is increasing in most American major cities as a result of the policies being implemented. It'll be interesting to me to see what kind of people continue to choose careers in law enforcement and the military.

I think you have to hold on to some doubt as to conviction. It's probably not a good idea to second guess a jury especially when it comes to a unanimous decision. So far as I know the defense has rested. Closing statements begin on Monday...then we'll see.
