Here's some stupid crap on CNN about the Trump campaign launching attacks on Harris. Tell you what. They can keep their stupid crap to themselves. I refuse to attend to it. I had enough of his chaos making the first and second time around and I ain't going for a third.

I'll resurface in November with a vote.

Yes, I agree. I think American politics today is a toxic dumpster fire and both sides think pouring more water on it will solve the problem, while the centers of both parties stand by helplessy holding fire extinguishers.
I support the right to keep and arm bears.

Well I don't have poll stats in hand but I think I've got something that, in the long run, might make a difference.

Instagram

Taylor Swift 284M Followers (Est. Net worth 1.3B)

Beyonce' 318M Followers (Est. Net worth 800M)

Beyonce' has already given Kamala Harris permission to use her song Freedom at her rallies.

Taylor Swift has yet to comment or endorse.

Keep your eyes open, folks. These are powerful and widely influential women who will help to further secure the youth vote for Harris. To be honest I am not a fan of either however, credit where credit is due.
Good point, Jersey. There's also the phenomenon of Charli XCX labeling Harris as a 'brat that's catching on with Gen Z. That's not to mention folks like Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, and Chappell Roan. I think Ariana Grande alone has north of 350 million Instagram followers. If Democrats are going to have a chance, they have to get young folks interested. For obvious reasons, this wasn't happening with Biden.

Thank you for linking to that! This might be my favorite Randy Rainbow video yet!

I think the point you're making and the abortion issue might just usher in the first female American president.

I have to admit: the response to Harris has made me way more optimistic than I was three days ago.

Now I don't claim to know who all of those are but word has it that Kamala IS brat. :)

I feel much relieved! It was sickening seeing Biden being dragged for his low debate performance while the news cycle totally ignored Trump's debate lies. Never in my wildest dreams expected to see this sudden shift happen! Maybe I'll get to see this country elect our first female president! Maybe we'll get to see a prosecutor debate a felon!

I still feel sad about how Biden has been treated. I think it was horribly undeserved, manipulative, and convoluted. But in the end, it seems as though Biden gave it careful consideration and knew that timing was everything. So he waited for Trump to lock in his VP, then turned the tables entirely by stepping down. As in...whose the old guy now? Talk about masterfully executed!

It's positively serendipitous!

As to the issue of abortion. Vance has truly gone off the rails and Trump is stuck with either keeping him or appearing indecisive by replacing him. So they want to institute a nationwide ban on abortion (presumably no exceptions), then go after IVF and contraception, and now Vance is after the childless cat ladies.

If you ask me, they have an unhealthy obsession with the combined uteri of America. Makes me think they're overcompensating for...something. ;)

Afterthought in the wee hours. Does anyone think that the position on IVF is really targeting gay couples?

The Atlantic had a couple of articles analyzing the 'Brat' and coconut phenomena. They send me down musical and influencer rabbit holes I'd never have explored otherwise.

If that’s Vance’s motivation, then it’s like choosing to burn down the house to kill that one spider in the bathroom.

Republican Endorses Kamala Harris: 'Count Me In'
Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan has announced that he is endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency.

Duncan, a lifelong Republican who had previously said he would be voting for President Joe Biden over Donald Trump in November, confirmed his support for the new presumptive 2024 Democratic nominee on social media and in an interview the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Politically Georgia podcast.

The endorsement from the GOP figure will be seen as another boost for Harris' election hopes. Georgia is one of the key swing states where Harris will be hoping to defeat the former president in November.

"I'm committed to beating Donald Trump. The only vehicle left for me to do that with is the Democratic Party. If that requires me to vote for, speak for, or endorse Kamala Harris then count me in," Duncan posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday.

Duncan was in office during the 2020 election and had pushed back on Trump's claims of fraud in Georgia. "The mountains of misinformation are not helping the process; they are only hurting it," Duncan told CNN in December 2020. "I voted for President Trump. I campaigned for him. And, unfortunately, he did not win the state of Georgia."

During his appearance on Politically Georgia, which was broadcast on Wednesday, Duncan said that Harris must try win over undecided and swing voters in Georgia and elsewhere if she has any chance of winning November's race.

"If Donald Trump wins the hearts and minds of the majority of the 10 percent in the middle and Kamala Harris doesn't, then he's going to be the next president," Duncan said. "And then we've got real issues on our hands as Republicans."

Duncan also said Biden did the "right thing" by ending his 2024 campaign in the wake of his stumbling CNN debate performance and allowing a new candidate to become the Democratic Party's nominee.

Newsweek has contacted Harris' office and the Trump campaign via email.

In May, Duncan wrote in an Atlanta Journal-Constitution opinion piece that he would be voting for Biden in November, and that other Republican figures should also reject Trump.

"Unlike Trump, I've belonged to the GOP my entire life. This November, I am voting for a decent person I disagree with on policy over a criminal defendant without a moral compass," Duncan said.

"The GOP will never rebuild until we move on from the Trump era, leaving conservative (but not angry) Republicans like me no choice but to pull the lever for Biden."

Duncan had also previously blamed Trump's endorsed candidates for the GOP's underwhelming November 2022 midterm performance, which saw the party fail to win control of the Senate and only manage a slim majority in the House instead of the predicted "red wave" of victories.

The only way to explain this is candidate quality," Duncan told CNN after Senator Raphael Warnock defeated the Trump-endorsed Herschel Walker in the runoff election for the Georgia Senate seat.

"If we don't take our medicine here, it's our fault," Duncan said. "Every Republican in this country ought to hold Donald Trump accountable for this."
It seems to be a growing trend that more traditional, basically decent Republicans are coming to the realization that even voting Democrat in November is better than voting for a "criminal defendant without a moral compass"! I am optimistic that this will prove enough to turn the tide against Trump and his clueless sycophants!

Yes I think you're right about the obvious reasons it wasn't happening with Biden. I also think it wasn't happening in my own mind for similar obvious reasons. I don't really pay attention to these folks. I didn't know who Charli XCX was until she came out with the Kamala IS brat post. I have no idea who Chappell Roan is but I best be finding out.

I'm afraid I've fallen into that group of older folks who don't tune in to what is going on for our up and coming generation. I'm familiar with Taylor Swift and Beyonce'. Couldn't miss them if I wanted to. Clooney, of course. But I admit that I may not realize the magnitude of the influence of all these others artists and should probably tend to that so I can better appreciate the unfolding of current events.

You know I think some of us were comfortable with Biden because he felt familiar to us and he has been. He sounded trustworthy, upfront, wise, and experienced...and he has been. Speaking only for myself I think I need to widen the lens a bit more and learn to build my trust in others.

Previously I turned a blind eye to Harris. Not long ago I started watching some of her pre-campaign speeches and interviews, and now her campaign speeches. I absolutely underestimated her.

I'm jazzed that I might get to see the first woman elected President of the United States!

When I think back over the years that I have lived it blows my mind the events I have lived to see happen. Wars, civil rights movements, women's rights, the assassinations, nuclear weapons, fire drills to duck and cover drills to (sadly) active shooter drills, moon shot, the advent of technology, rotary phones with party lines to push buttons to cordless to a cell phone with a camera and all the tools I need to navigate daily life...I mean come on! So many significant transitions, discoveries, and even overcoming tragedy that scared us to the bone and yet we recovered. So much to celebrate, be proud of and mourn in our collective past but we're still standing!

The first woman President? Man, that would just be the icing on my cake! :D
