Admittedly, her intersex situation is rare, but what would some of our more ardent opponents of ‘surgery’ have done were they her parents?

This article argues against surgery in her case. Looking back she questions it's value, better learn to work with the construction you have as alterations have some negative aspects.

I agree. I’ve also stated earlier in this thread that I’d prefer gender affirming surgical procedures to wait until the age of consent. I just don’t believe that this recommendation be absolute due to the circumstances within each situation.

As it relates to the OP, though, I don’t believe that what her parents did had anything to do with an imagined ‘Marxist progressive’ ideology, nor do I believe that her doctors were so afflicted. That’s a point I’d like to see the OP address but I have little faith that OP will move beyond sensationalized claims presented to support weird partisan political beliefs.

I firmly believe that it requires an ideology that defies science, dignity, common sense and the law to rationalize harming a child like that. What it is called, matters nothing to me. It is the same ideology that put glass doors on my kids' high school restrooms and remodeled restrooms over this trans dramadamadingdong. Kish, while this is not a question asked of me. I am curious how this fits in your view, one that I seem to align with.

This is more serious than a minor getting a tattoo or fixing a funky ear. I draw the ethical line at no for minors, with or without parental consent. It, can, wait.

This is definitely more serious than a minor getting a tattoo or minor plastic surgery. My first impression is that I do not mess with other families' decisions about their internal affairs, so to speak. After that, I think that there should be a high bar for making a decision that has huge, permanent consequences. Lastly, I am loath to place an absolute ban on things.

So, we are probably not on exactly the same page, but this is one place where I differ from many people who are actually Progressives, not just Hound Progressives.
