Any family tree experts out there?

Okay...I'm working on a family history scrapbook and I need some advice. Presumably there are geneaology arteests on the board. Let's take the information for one person. Date of Birth, Date of arrival at Ellis Island, Country of Origin, Destination, Ships Manifest Passenger Number, Date of Death, etc.

What's the proper way to list those things? Is there an accepted format for that or should I simply journal the information? I'd like some sort of structure to the personal information to go along with the story I'm writing.

Ideas?

Actually, I do use the PAF program that is from the church.

It seems to put everything in order.

You can create an output used by other programs called a "GEDCOM" file.

I think that is the standard.

Anyway, maybe you can use the output from PAF to use as a guide.

How do I get that "PAF" program you're talking about? Is it something I can download from the internet? What I'm making is a "heritage scrapbook". That is to say, they will have photos mounted on decorative papers and in this case, family member information. I'm still not sure how to include the stories and information. In scrapbooking there are available papers that have family trees printed on them...it's the stories I'm wondering about. The information I have far exceeds the typical information you enter on Family Tree pages (or forms).

There's also a PAF companion program that I use to create different charts. I used it to make Xmas presents for my family.

The PAF program is really just a way to do your genealogy (which I was interested in long before I had a Mormon wife!)
