Agree with pretty much everything you said. Told God to said me to England on my Mission and he did which was nice.

I loved British comedy before I left but now that I know more of the local lingo it's much, much funnier.

Have you watched the british version of 'the office'? I think it's 10 times funnier than the US version. But hey, I lived in the UK for 8 years, so I 'get it'.

I showed an episode (i have both seasons on DVD) to a homegrown/never been out of the country american, and he just didn't get it at all, and thought it was horrible.

I'll do a USA list too, but here's my UK list:

--EPL soccer/football
--English music groups
--fish and chips
--The HP series (and before anyone says anything about them being lightweight kiddie books, I was 12 when the first one came out, so I've grown up with the series, and I'm freaking glad it's finally coming to an end)

Great responses!!!
Thanks...

Aaargh...I forgot the comedy.

Ricky Gervais comes from Reading which is my home town. (My first bf was friends with Kenneth Branagh from the local comprehensive....how's that for name dropping!)

Comedy though!!!

The Office is great
Katherine Tate is pretty darn good.

Kids over the country are repeating the mantra

Face....bothered.
Face....bothered.....am I bothered...am I bothered...I'm NOT bothered

This... http://www.number-10.gov.uk/output/page11263.asp is fantastic! (and it really is Tony Blair...done for Comic Relief)

Little Britain is also good in part, but a little too naughty for my liking.

I know this isn't really from the UK, but when i lived there, we used to love watching 'neighbors'.

Oh, and 'bullseye', 'catchphrase' and 'top of the pops'. Just some other shows i remember.

Top of the Pops has finished now!!! (bit sad)

Neighbours is still popular. (When I was at college it was a daily routine for half the trainee teachers to meet in the common room to watch!!!)

If anyone is interested I just found some more Catherine Tate 'Lauren' sketches on You Tube.
I think they are hillarious!!!....and not too far from the truth!!

The French Oral, and the Periodic Table are highly recommended and worth a gander!!!

I don't know if it translates well to American Culture??!!

I was literally on the floor with the 'translator' sketch....
