Everyone would have to read Dr Robin diangelo books till the day they die. Everyone would have to rail against religion until they become so depressed they have to be put on medication. Everyone would have to take classes to learn how to always look into the past so we know how to blame dead people for our miserable lives. And so on and so on.

So: if someone opines strongly on a current issue of public importance, and it is clear that the views they express bear little or no relation to well-established facts (and I'm talking about pretty basic things here, no quantum mechanics), how can one point that out without provoking your 'Ha! Mr Know it all! Think you're so clever!" response?

Something like that occurred recently in the case of the disastrous floods in Germany, caused by unprecedented levels of rainfall that are clearly linked to the heating of the atmosphere making it able to carry much bigger loads of water vapour than before. Newly released notes show Trump pressured DOJ to declare election was 'corrupt'

According to Donoghue's notes, Rosen told Trump that the Justice Department had no power to reverse the outcome of the election.

"Understand that the DOJ can't + won't snap its fingers + change the outcome of the election, doesn't work that way," said Rosen, according to the notes.

"Don't expect you to do that, just say that the election was corrupt + leave the rest to me and the R. Congressmen," Trump replied, per the notes.

At another point in the call, the notes showed Rosen and Donoghue trying to convince Trump that his allegations of voter fraud were false.

"Sir we have done dozens of investig., hundreds of interviews, major allegations are not supported by evid. developed," Donoghue told Trump, per the notes. "We are doing our job. Much of the information you're getting is false."

Trump however would not be swayed.

"'We have an obligation to tell people that this was an illegal, corrupt election," he said, according to the notes.

"These handwritten notes show that President Trump directly instructed our nation's top law enforcement agency to take steps to overturn a free and fair election in the final days of his presidency," House Oversight Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney said in a statement. "The Committee has begun scheduling interviews with key witnesses to investigate the full extent of the former President's corruption, and I will exercise every tool at my disposal to ensure all witness testimony is secured without delay."

The release of the notes comes days after the Justice Department determined that six former Trump Justice Department officials, including Rosen and Donoghue, can participate in Congress' investigation.

You didn't even read the article, but rather mined one line out of it and ignored the fact that these notes come directly from the people who were working for Trump. You're also oblivious to the fact that the Justice Dept is to be completely independent from the Executive, despite Trump's numerous attempts to weaponize it for his purposes. Biden told the Justice Dept many months ago that he expects them to act independently and he has no intention of recommending to them investigations into his predecessor.

Who are these naïve people who think it will do any good to (in effect) say to Trump "Sir, you know that thing that would be really favourable to you if it was true? Well, we've looked into it, and we are pretty sure that it isn't in fact true after all."

In Trump's head, the distinction 'true/not true' is nothing more nor less than 'what I want/ what I don't want'. The idea that there is a real world 'out there' in which there are things that are simply the case or not the case, and over which he has no control is simply not allowed into his head.

I do not think people expressing fear of Trump is the same as proof of treason.

The treason of Trump comes in many forms, but first and foremost comes in the form of trying to overthrow a democratic election and have himself appointed as a lifetime dictator. The second charge of this indictment should be in conspiring with a foreign power against the government of the United States. The third would be in turning the Republican party into a bunch of lying weenies.
