A Tail of Woe

Tarzan (or Charzan, as Annie says. "Charzan is on the Champoline!") must have met his match somewhere outside yesterday.
He came in and laid down on my bed last night after playing outside. When I picked him up to pet him, he hissed and bit me--and he wasn't playing around. I noticed the base of his tail looked swollen.
Took him into the vet this morning and his tail is broken at the top and will probably require surgery. I dread the price tag. Our last rat, Cow, got a respiratory virus and I spent over six hundred dollars trying to heal her, to no avail. Time in a little rat sized oxygen chamber is pricey. And, no, I'm not kidding. What can I say? I have a weakness for furry things.
Poor Tevil. He thought he was invincible.
