No, unless they are so morally obscene and destructive (Bill Ayers, for example) that excoriation is the only alternative.

I do have contempt for various ideas, however, for which I make no apology and consider myself perfectly within scriptural bounds.

That's not "contempt", but, I'll have to admit, if you voted for this man, given everything that was known about him through the campaign; if you allowed yourself to be deluded, cajoled, and played by the One and his handlers, then yes, I think you were quite foolish.
