Iron and Wine
A poster here sent me lots and lots of fantastic music. I'm not sure I should reveal his/her identity, because then other posters might harass him/her for music which would leave him/her less time to send it to me. ;)
I must say that I absolutely love the songs by Iron and Wine, songs I'd not heard until I got the CD from my MDB music benefactor. Iron and Wine, as far as I know, is an individual named Sam Beam. He's a furry bear of a man and I think I love him just a little. I certainly adore his voice. It's just too loverly not to share, so I intend to do just that.
For the first installment of Iron and Wine, I present Love and Some Verses:
Love is a dress that you made
Long to hide your knees
Love to say this to your face,
"I'll love you only."
For your days and excitement,
What will you keep for to wear?
Someday drawing you different,
May I be weaved in your hair?
Love and some verses you hear
Say what you can't say.
Love to say this in your ear,
"I'll love you that way."
From your changing contentments,
What will you choose for to share?
Someday drawing you different,
May I be weaved in your hair?
KA
PS. Sam also sings Flightless Bird, American Mouth which is in my sig line.

It's a beautiful song, isn't it?
I am thinking it's a sign
That the freckles in our eyes
Are mirror images and
When we kiss they're perfectly aligned
And I have to speculate
That God himself did make us into
Corresponding shapes like puzzles pieces
From the clay
True, it may seem like a stretch
But it's thoughts like this
That catch my troubled head
When you're away, when I am missing you to death
When you were out there on the road
For several weeks of shows
And when you scan the radio
I hope this song will guide you home
They will see us waving from such great heights
"Come down now," they'll say
But everything looks perfect from far away
"Come down now," but we'll stay
I've tried my best to leave
This all on your machine
But the persistent beat
Sounded thin upon listening
That frankly will not fly
You will hear the shrillest highs
And lowest lows with the windows down
When this is guiding you home
They will see us waving from such great heights
"Come down now," they'll say
But everything looks perfect from far away
"Come down now," but we'll say...
I've not seen that movie, Seven. I'll have to check it out.

Such Great Heights is a cover of a Postal Service song (Ben Gibbard from Death Cab). I like Iron and Wine's version the best.

I just figured that out last night, SK. I agree that Iron and Wine's version is the better of the two.
Now I just have to decide which song to post next...

I love that song, SilentKid.
I also love Iron and Wine and Calexico's History of Lovers
It has a Wilco-ish vibe to it. Some Beatles there, as well. I could listen to it all day, I think!
Louise only got from me innocent poetry
Although she played to not listen
But still I can hear myself speak as if no one else
Ever could offer the same
Some say she knowingly tastes like a recipe
Although so foolish and willing
I said Babe I can picture you bend as if wanting to
Bow as the curtain went down
Coddle some men, they’ll remember you bitterly
“F” ‘em, they’ll come back for more
I asked my Louise would she leave and so cripple me
Then came a knock at the door
“I came for my woman,” he came with a razor blade
Bound like us all for the ocean
I hope that she’s happy I’m blamed for the death of
The man who would take her from me
Some they saw in me innocent poetry
Some, some they’ll never be certain
But still it’s been written, a history of lovers
Given and taken in ink
Coddle some men, they’ll remember you fittingly
Cut ‘em, they’ll come back for more
I asked my Louise would she leave and so cripple me
Then came the knock at the door
Louise came to rescue me; listen, the irony:
Blood made her heart change its beating
I hope that she’s happy I’m blamed for the death of
The man she found better than me

Yeah, the lyrics are beautiful. The movie "Garden State" is a dark comedy and a little quirky-it was written and directed by the brilliant Zach Braff who I adore. One of my favorite movies.
You would LOVE the soundtrack. http://www.amazon.com/Garden-State-Vari ... B0002J58LK
Besides Iron and Wine there is "The Shins," "Remy Zero," "Simon and Garfunkel" "Cold Play", and many more.
Here is another beautiful song from the movie called "Fair" by Remy Zero: (he also sings the cool song "Save me" that's another favorite of mine)

Re: Iron and Wine
This is my favorite scene in Garden State.
I can't believe Zach Braff could write and direct a scene for Natalie Portman that is pound-for-pound better written than anything in George Lucas's $350 Million worth of Natalie Portman crap-o-rama Star Wars prequels.
(Exhibit A is at the 4:15 mark here)

Amen to that. My kids have been watching the prequels a lot lately and it makes me cringe to listen in on them.
Yeah, that's one of my favorite scenes from Garden State too. There are so many.......
Peter Sarsgaard was so perfectly cast.
Here's another funny one:
"an opportunity for you and your loved ones...."

and this:
"the signal"

And could this song by Simon and Garfunkel have been placed any better? Perfection!

Sorry for going off topic on your thread KA. Now you have to watch this movie. :)
Here's another good song you might like from the movie and trailer:
