Introducing Pedro Augustus and The Baby (New Sketches Added)

Courtney, for the past year or so, has been drawing a cartoon starring The Baby and his best friend, a sheep named Pedro Augustus.

The cartoon is pretty clever (I'm her mom; of course I believe that!) and since I got my new scanner, I've been having fun scanning her pencil sketches.

Here are just a few samples of her work:

Pedro Augustus and The Baby take a Sunday Drive:

The Baby drives with the assistance of his push-popper. His single hair blows in the wind.

Pedro Augustus and The Baby attend a Metallica concert:

Pedro Augustus and The Baby make snow men:

Pedro Augustus and The Baby Travel Back in Time:

Their space ship is a double-seater baby bouncer.

Pedro and Baby's friend, Tony Smith:

Pedro Augustus and The Baby Around the World:

They're Emo in Hot Topic. Pedro has a camel hump in Egypt. So many arms in India.

I love Courtney's cartoon. I think I'm Courtney's Pedro Augustus.

Very cute and clever, KA.

The best, BY FAR, is the "Around the World" one.

I have been on the threshold of producing my own web-comic for quite some time now, so maybe this will push me over the edge. The problem is, my computer no longer activates the scanner attached to it, darn it, so I can't do anything until I figure out how to fix it.

Thanks, Dr. Shades! I think her cartoons are clever, too.

Courtney is a wonderful, talented girl. She's an exceptional writer, and won a $2500. scholarship for a story she wrote in the fourth grade called Annie, the Seeing-Eye Kid.

Annie was kidnapped as a baby by Lex and Clem, two old-west outlaws. Clem was blind and Lex was tired of leading him around, so he stole baby Annie and trained her to be Clem's seeing-eye kid.

The story was written in first person, by Annie. Here is my favorite line from the story:

"Lex and Clem, being outlaws, taught me to lie and cheat and spit and be very unladylike. I'm writing this with the pen I stole yesterday."

I hope you are able to resolve your scanner issues, Shades. I remember reading about your cartoonery. I'd love to see your work!

A $2,500.00 scholarship in the Fourth Grade? Impressive! Most impressive.

In that case, if I can ever fix this thing, I'll have to upload some of my artwork to show you all.

Courtney is still drawing Pedro Augustus and The Baby. She's made lots and lots of new sketches. I'll post a few here, and for those interested, a few more can be found on my Photobucket Album.

May I indulge in a little more bragging? Courtney is making me a Pedro Augustus and The Baby T-Shirt. I can't wait to wear it!

PS. Shades, you never uploaded any of your cartoons! Is your scanner still on the fritz?

Oh! I completely forgot about that. I can scan things if I hook my wife's laptop to my scanner, the problem is getting her off it long enough to scan things.

I'll see if I can get some uploaded over the weekend.

I hope you are able to scan a few, Shades. I'd like to see them. Courtney would probably like them, too.

You should know that Blixa is an incredible artist. I saw some of her sketches--WOW! I'm always amazed by people who can draw. I can't make a decent stick figure.
